What do you think of the exhaust on the 2012?
« on: January 02, 2012, 04:45:28 PM »

We bought a 2012 CVO Softail last week for my wife.  How many of you left the exhaust stock and how many changed to different pips (which ones)?  I'm use to changing pipes and installing tuners on our previous bikes to get them to run better and cooler.  I expect we will need to do this on this bike as well. :-\

If you like the stock look, you can now send your mufflers to Fullsac to be redone and then do a remap. That is an option that has just opened up. I am either going to do that or go with these.

Wow that's great news that Steve is now modifying the ConV mufflers. I have them although I had to build them myself as Steve was not in production with them when I got my 2010 ConV. I started with Fullsac 1.75" cores, shortened them and welded on the flanges cut from the stock pipes (using measurements from an early prototype). They came out great and I love the sound - not excessively loud (unless you ask them) and excellent low rumble. The best part is they are quiet enough at idle to avoid getting hassled and you have the stock EPA STAMP right there on the cans (for what's that worth). Performance is excellent and the bike looks 100% stock including the original heat shields.

I previously had Rush slip-ons and I like these much better.  Highly recommended.

Brought my bike with 4900 miles with V and h Big shot Staggered. They look awesome but dont have the sound that i like. They are very popular for Softail's. Having Fat Cats installed now since i'm installing 10.5 pistons, woods 777 cams, ported and polished heads, 50 mm throttle body, lifters and pushrods and want a better sounding and bottom end pipe. Big shots getting sold soon.

Love the look and quality of the V and h product....But

ob1,

What kind of condition are the Big Shots?  My wife had Big Shots staggered on her previous bike (Softail Deluxe) and she liked the sound of them.  Let me know if you decide to sell them.  Thanks.

I don't mind the sound too bad, but it isn't quite what I was hoping for, so I will be installing a Bassani Road Rage Long - already have the XiED's.
now if the weather would just cooperate. I this system on my 2010 Lo Boy 96" and really liked the sound and the Torque.

My SERG has catless 08 head pipes and Fullsac 2.25 cores in the stock pipes. what I like is they  sound great and at highway
speeds they are quiet.

Thanks - I did a lot of searching before I made the choice. I really liked the look and the sound.

When I bought my 2011 it had Rush's on it but they included the originals.  The Rush's are OK, but nothing like the Rineharts I had on my Fat Boy.  Since Fullsac now does the convertibles I will probably send the originals back and go that route.
