Why are the going in different directions?

The front and rear treads are different(opposite), because they have opposite function.

The rear tire tread looks correct because you can visualize it digging into the pavement as it spins, moving you down the road.

When you apply the brakes, the front wheel slows you down by doing the same thing, but in the opposite direction.

Imagine two football linebackers pushing each other back and forth.

Both linebackers cleats are "dug in", but in opposite directions.
