Gawd...If I put something on the bike so I could drink while going down the road, I'd have to take wizz breaks every 75 miles instead of 150.

Rio...I think the chrome/leather version looks better than the mesh.  JMHO.  If you've got to have a drink holder on the bike, that's the best solution, IMO.  No offense to anyone, but the handlebar version looks like it belongs on a Gold Wing...

I agree, I think the leather kruzer kaddy is cleaner looking.  I hate crap on my handlebars that's why I came up with this idea.   I plan on moving the garmin to fairing by removing the air temp gauge and flipping it with the fuel gauge.

Not a great picture, taken with my Iphone, but it will give you an idea of how it turned out.  I dodn't like the Kuryakyn holder so I went back to the $38 Kruzer Kaddy in leather.  Heres a close up picture that still doesn't do it justice, but all I can say is that it looks like it belongs.  I just used the neck for the cup holder, its fitted to the hole I drilled, put a nylon black washer, and it's very stable, and it's not in the way.

Looks great Rio, thanks for the idea!  :2vrolijk_21:

Since up until last August, I rode Wings, I too agree the handlebar mounted units look very much like a Goldwing.

Consequently, the less you have to reach and take your eyes from the road to get to the bottle, the better.  This is why they are mounted in that area.  How's that work for you?  Do you have to look away from the road to reach for the bottle?  If not, then this is a great way to keep hydrated when running the roads!   :drink:

No, it works great.  I keep my eyes on the road, bend over and grab it.  Surprisingly, the drink doesn't get hot from the motor either?  Maybe thats why HD came up with the gawd awful looking one that connects to the frame below the gas tank?

The guy that mentioned doing this on the PJ57 doors.  I would suggest you be careful with that.  You can drill the hole no problem, I would put a fender washer on the backside.  I had a set of the HD doors like that a few years ago and i returned them.  I wasn't able to get a tight enough fit when they were closed to hold the weight of the cup holder and the drink.  The hog trough doors are really sturdy, and quite frankly, I only put chit in those compartments that are more like emergency or rarely used crap that you want to carry just in case like bungys, extra sunglasses and stuff.

I would suggest you be careful with that.  You can drill the hole no problem, you would want to use a washer on both sides, you can get a perfict fit chrome or black nylon for the front side, I would put a fender washer on the backside.  I had a set of the HD doors like that a few years ago and i returned them.  I wasn't able to get a tight enough fit, and I thought they would rattle with the weight of the cup holder and the drink.  The hog trough doors are really sturdy and they fit really snug and seal well.  I rarely open them, and  I only put chit in those compartments that are more like emergency or rarely used crap that you want to carry just in case like bungys, extra sunglasses and sunscreen, the stuff you only need once and a while.  I thought the hindged doors were overrated for that reason, especially the $189 that HD wanted.

P.S.  I rarely make it 75 miles!
Are you guys kidding me?  One drink and you can't ride that far?  I just drove Louisville to TN (210 miles in just over 3 hours) and drank a glass of milk and an OJ right before leaving and then 3 cans of Coke on the drive. A cup holder on a bike would be a waste of time for me.  If I open a drink in the driveway, it's usually gone before I'm out of the subdivision.  I think on a long ride, I would need a Gatorback full of something to drink.  Does Harley sell those with chrome straws or anything?   ;D ;D

Sounds like a healthy recipe for riding, is that a ritual....glass of milk, glass of OJ, and 3 cokes every 200 miles :drink:
