Keep trying dealers till you find one Don. Probably only about 50% actually make the choice between a sale and doing right by proprietary vehicles. Might be the voices in my head (1) but I thought someone said you could get anything from Chicago H-D.

Since when did the BS we post on this site have to carry footnotes and an appendix ?
When my bike came in and I was looking it over and saw the fender light, I went straight there too. Damn dealers with ethics, it seems like you just take a VIN and order the dumb thing.
Not that easy out here either.
I don't know Spider. When trying to get that stupid 04 rear fender emblem to stick on my 05 I called several shops. No one played ball. Lots of guys had the same luck when trying to score an 05 tour pak emblem.
With Chicago HD I have had them actually call me back to get a VIN before completing an order. Was when I was ordering replacement pieces after my chopped tour pak got stolen last year. Don't even remember which it was. But the base was VIN restricted while the top was not; or vice versa. Was weird as a combination like that. But without supplying the VIN Chicago HD wouldn't then have supplied me whichever part it was that was restricted.
I don't know how much of it is ethics Rog; or a de facto penalty system imposed by HD against the parts departments that get caught screwing up. Whether it's actually imposed (much) or not one of the rotating staff that used to be at the parts counter here once showed me a printout that detailed dollar penalties for scamming CVO parts through the system.
Also don't know how much that same thing might apply to the FLHX light and rear treatment. I just took it as karma, however, and decided it was meant to mean that I wan't supposed to have to screw with getting the whole thing painted to match.
