Wouldn't consider committing without first seeing up close detailed images and knowing a price point.

JCZ is doing us all a favor and taking a ride to see Big Jim and take a look at the finished product.  Me myself, as bad as I would like an alternative to the current RG headlight set up, I also would like something that looks like it belongs on a $$$ bike and the fit and finish is there?  I spoke with Jim and mentioned that would likely happen if the product was popular.

I already did that, but they weren't open.  Not sure when I'll be able to make it back out that way.   It doesn't sound like something he has made up and packaged up that somebody could take a look at.....if I'm wrong, you have his attention here....he can send you the pics you need. :nixweiss:

I agree.  Do. You know who fabricated the bracket for that set up,  that looks factory!  I think those are the HD 7" LEDs?

They seemed smaller than a 7" light.

I talked to the designer he said he would look into fabricating the whole bracket including outer bezel.  He was thinking $200 and then you would have to buy the lights.  He did use the black 7" Harley lights, he had to design a bracket to hold them securely and then an outer bezel to fit the lights and the fairing opening.  He would consider making it if we were able to come up with a minimum of 30 pieces?  Remember, the Harley lamps aren't cheap your talking around $900 or so for the set up???  If HD designed a light to fit the RG they would probably sell the set for around $600?

I will be making up a few sets of brackets and a photo filled install manual tomorrow. Once i get it uploaded, let me know what ya'll think. Until then, here are some specs and info...

Light housings - 3.73" Height X 2.82" Depth
Each light has "3" 12 watt HPLED's
Power used - 4 watts on low, 70 watts on high
Power Output - equal to 180 watts of halogen light at full power
Lights are controlled by your factory high/low switch and on low, a light volume control (dimmer)
Utilizes the factory headlight adjusters
Harleys lights (JW actually) look really cool, but they still fall short on output compaired to ours.
I have run these on my glide for over a year with 0 issues. (I do ride! 29,584 last year with 5-1,000 mile + days)
Anyone with a DYNA, we have also run two of the smaller version in a factory 1/4 fairing.
Price-$750 with brackets. Thanks Rio and petewerner for picking up the phone and letting me know that i am not the only creep that wants really bright headlights on their glide. As a thank you...Any one ordering that is from this site, i will get them to you for $675 with brackets.

I am a wrench by day, and only play a headlight manufacturer by night! :) I did the install of the headlights on my glide as a one off, but building the kit if we get a little interest is no problem (should only take a couple of days). Any input, ideas, or feedback is always welcome. If you need more info, email me at holeshotchoppers@gmail.com(it comes straight to my cell) or call the shop at 916 852 8352...Big Jim

PS-how in the hell do you post photos on here? I am amazing with a motor and a wrench, but not so much with a keyboard and a mouse!

just want to give an update on the kit i am fabbing up...

The instruction manual will be ready and printed by Wednesday, just a couple of changes i need to make.

Modified the LED wiring harness to be as plug and play as i can get it. These LED's were originally designed as a universal mount motorcycle driving light, so modding the harness to make it plug and play took a little work. You will be able to stick the relay box to the inner fairing, plug power into the terminated or/wht wire on the headlight harness, plug a 3 prong male headlamp plug into the factory headlight plug, mount the "volume knob" , and attach the LED light bracket in the stock location. The factory hi/lo switch will work with the "volume knob" that comes with the LEDs to a user set low beam setting on lo and full power on hi.

The relay box will also have an output for a set of the smaller lights to be used as driving lights or you can use another set of the big lights if you ride on Safari's.

I have the early model headlight brackets built, and i will be ploting the late model bracket into the laser tomorrow.

I am going to suggest that the customer mounts the "volume knob" in the left glove box for a cleaner install. The only reason to use the knob is to adjust the low beam setting. Does this sound like a good plan? I was thinking that i would not want the hassle of running the wires in the bars or drilling a small hole for the shaft in the fairing on plain view.

More info to follow

Trying to use an exisitng hole is a better option... just sayin... IIRC there are a couple on the inner fairing that can be used possibly?

What holes are you speaking of? I have mine in my switch housing on the top of the trees...but if I had a CVO, I would not want any visible holes in the fairing.

Dont have my RG home with me.. but I recall pre existing holes in the inner fairing on my 09... just a thought... some of us have glovebox liners( not hard to cut)
