Thanx for some of your comments...the bike in question is actually my softail, it has the oblong style inspection cover....behind the cover at ...12o'clock and 3 o'clock as you face the bike from the side, the bolts at those positions are around 2 1/2" long and the primary was two stantions that come out from the inner primary and mate to the outer primary cover, and the long 1/4 -20' s go through them and actually have a gasket type material that sits between the outer cover and the stantions. the bolts at 6 and 9 oclock are only about a half inch long, and they thread into the outer cover.
While I appreciate your interest and suggestions, the question still remains the same....does anyone have any EXPERIENCE using this Permatex products??? If I was looking for just opinions, I could ask my wife...she's always full of them (LOL)....as to the suggestion of maybe now I should remember to use a torque wrench, this bike has over a 140 thousand on it...stuff wears and strips over time , this is a daily rider, not 2012 hardly ridden garage ornament that goes to the stealer for its repairs
thanx Jerry for taking the time to post diagram. Of primary drive, I do appreciate your trying to help,
