Maybe someone has covered this before, but it was new info to me today. Met another CVO Ultra rider with an '09 just like mine. He was unhappy with several things on his and one of them happened to be the design or (lack of) proper design or functionality of the power lock mechanism.
Sometimes when I get off the bike and don't want to take my jacket with me or some other possessions that I don't want to lose, I take the lock fob with me and just hit it to lock up the Tour Pak and saddle bags and walk off.
Now when I do this, I also take the security fob with me too so the bike cannot be started and ridden off and the alarm would go off. So, I do (NOT) lock the ignition switch in these instances.
I found out that all one has to do is turn the unlocked ign. switch to the "on" position and then hit the console power lock (unlock) switch and bingo, they all unlock................WTF.
So it turned out to be an "exposurer" I didn't realize. I would have thought that the lock fob would have disabled the console switch in some manner but it does not. The guy said they (HD) finally corrected this problem in the '11 or '12 models where the ignition switch (also) gets locked up when the power lock fob is used.
It was new news to me.......
