Anyone remember the huge lawsuits on the throttle sticking wide open on the AMF Sporty's?  I had a 1972 and my neighbor was with her boyfriend when the throttle got stuck wide open while crossing an old metal bridge.  She has been wheelchair bound since.  They won the case as did others at that time, could have settled as I can't remember all the details.  This should not happen to any vehicle that gets registered for road use period.  Jerry as usual nailed this one.

I noticed the issue on mine ('11 SERGU) the other day and again today when I road. I thought it might be because I got caught in the rain Thurs but after reading this, it doesn't seem to be the case. I'll try to loosen the brake mount a little to give me some play and see if that works. If not, the dealer will get to in when I take it in for the 5k service.

My 11 SESG did this right off the bat , drove me crazy for awhile. I moved the whole assy out about 1/16 inch (as I read somewhere on this forum) it helped for awhile, took it apart several times and found nothing. It kept on doing it , mostly when weather was cold. Finally one day I took it apart and found what seemed to be a clod of hardened grease or dirt clod or some such thing, never did really identify the composition , but that was it , not a problem since. It was about the size of a pinhead and was in the slot where the twist grip fits and rolls. Take a look . May be some type of grease used by the MOCO and it hardens with time.

I drove 524 miles to Panama City Beach on Wednesday and it started to rain 50 miles into the trip.  It rained the entire way.  2 hours outside Panama, I noticed the throttle was sticking and I would have to roll it back to get it unstuck.  It is also very hard to turn the throttle now.  I just got back last night, yes, rained most of the time, and I will be taking it back to the dealership.  It was very mild weather, not hot, don't think it had anything to do with heat, just rain.

When my 08 was new it stuck a little, more often when humid. I loosened the clamp for the throttle grip and took a Q-tip with a little Never-Seize and brushed very light coating in groove of grip. It has never hung up since.
