Wow, d00d, this sounds like something that would have happened after the Poon-Tang roast in MV, that had to be some good/BAD juice happening when djkak was reading the thread.

(I suspicion there may have been a bowl involved as well)

porthole,

The only way you can "over rev" one of these things to the point of valve float is if you miss a shift and grab a handfull of throttle, or just sit in neutral and nail the throttle.  I'm pretty sure you'd remember if you had done something like that.  Otherwise, the rev limiter will shut you down well before the valves will float.  If it didn't, that in itself is a warrantable issue.

I couldn’t resist diving into the Maggie Valley thread; is it even possible that there is a better place in the World to ride a Motorcycle? I was riding out east several years ago, for the first time and had the chance to ride the Dragons Tail. I said to the person leading that day “this is the best road that I have ever seen.” Don replied “you haven’t seen s__t! At that point I knew that I had to get back to North Carolina and see what he was talking about.

The middle of last September I managed to get back there and landed in Maggie Valley. One very cool thing about that part of the Country is that you can’t pick a bad direction to ride; there are no bad roads! I was lucky to get a room at the something-or-other Creek Lodge; across from the Italian place. There was a rally going on (organized by local Dealers) and the place was packed! Breakfast at Joey’s was a trip; those folks can sure move the people through that place.

I managed to get to the rally site Sunday night and found that there was live entertainment. The first band had finished and the second band was setting up. A large group of folks; apparently not interested in listening to the next group; jumped on their machines and began to leave. I thought that the next group kicked-butt; they started their gig with a Michael Jackson thing (you had to be there). Anyway, one of the folks getting ready to leave was parked back near the Stunt Rider area; he was on a on a TC Road King of some sort. This guy was warming up his machine by repeatedly holding the throttle wide-open against the stop. The guy did this three or four times for 5 to 10 seconds at a whack; the engine bouncing off of the rev-limiter the whole time. After his little warm up, he jumped in line and motored out of the rally site like he had done that 10,000 times; anybody else around for that??

I woke up in the middle of the night, on the floor, empty grape juice bottle, big blue-screen thing going on and thanking God that the voices had gone away.

Wow,  I want some of that juice  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Hey djkak, WELCOME to the site!  I agree with ya, NC is good for riding!  Sounds like you got there for the "Rally in the Valley"... this was the first year wife and I have missed it since the beginning  :(.  Of course, we missed the Maggie Valley Get Together, too :'(  I don't know what's wrong with us [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Well, I gotta go... I just love to try to make my engine explode when I warm it up... STAND CLEAR!  [smiley=bomb.gif] [smiley=dunce.gif]
