My father and I did some road racing intake manifold R&D work with Grumpy in the late 70's and early 80's - the manifold became known as the "Team G" small block Chevrolet intake manifold - which Weiand manufactured (and possibly still does).  It was a leap in technology at the time.  Grumpy was a methodical engineer whose nickname defied his personality.  In reality, he was relentless and persistent, but a kind gentleman.  He will be missed by those who knew him...

Unfortunately we are all going to go one day so until that day we live our lives to the fullest. Remembering Grumpy back in the 70's at US 131 Martin Dragway in Martin, Mich was some great memories of early years of drag racing for me! I ran my first pass down that track on a Kawasaki 350 Big Horn Endouro! R.I.P. Bill "Grumpy" Jenkins!

Remember seeing him race at Thunder Valley Drag Strip in Marion South Dakota - Thuuuuuunnnnnder Valley - Sunday, Sunday, Sunday! He always had cool cars and frequently won!

I went to Thunder Valley in the mid to late 70's.  Enjoyed the hell out of them.  At the time I was a Marine Corps Recruiter in Sioux Falls.
