Unable to unlock fork
« on: March 31, 2012, 11:50:53 AM »

Ever happened to anyone before?

Happened today, started cleaning the bike and finished
with a small tour. Came back home for lunch and let the
bike outside the garage locked. after lunch wanted to put
bike back into garage, because weather-forecast promised
rain in the afternoon/evening, was unable to unlock the fork.
dealer already closed, unofficial one tried to help me, but
had no chance. Together we could bring the bike into the garage.

Just read this thread the other day    "Forks locked and can't unlock them" by Falcon 2000. Sounds like theres a problem with this  :nervous:  :furious2:

seems to be a growing concern when searching "fork lock" - actually never heard of it before but it seems to have started as early as 2006  ::)

can remove the ignition-knob, able to turn into off-position,
but no light on gauges, no electric-impulse and the fork
is still locked. so dealer will be next, on tuesday.
dealer closes at saturday 4 p:m, but already put in the
answering-machine at 2:30 pm, that's what I call customer-
service.

They tie it down on the kickstand?

the front wheel is in a special rolling cartridge, which they
locked down as well and the rest of the bike over the bar
and the crash-bars tied down leaning on the kickstand.

If hauled for much distance that's a good way to strain a kickstand spring.  When you get it back make sure the kickstand hasn't gone limp and is still tucked up tightly against the frame.

The ignition switch broke apart and
the pin for the fork-lock went down.
the surprising thing is, that they have
this part on store in central warehouse
in netherlands, so in 1 week the bike
will be back on the road again.

Bike is out of warranty, but I know
some person I'll have to contact and
see, what will be the result.

I think it's "good" news at least you know what happened and when it will be done.
Now you got a time to ride your Buell ULYSSES.

I don't like your story Bandit as I realise yours is a 09 just as mine and so it's not the remote lock version as all the others lately reported  :nervous:
