Without regard to the ESP, it is really sad that there is no warranty recourse for someone that doesn't log many miles and has a major component failure with only 10-12K on their ride but the calender date is past the 2 year mark.  If the part is covered for a high mileage rider, say at 50-60K miles but still within the two year warranty period, I would think that that part would still be covered at 10K miles, irregardless of calender months, for the weekend rider.  But I would be wrong.
