Tour Pak, Saddlebags, Locks & Keys
« on: April 04, 2012, 09:17:03 AM »

On numerous occassions I have noticed that SaddleBags and Tour Paks have been bought and sold on this Forum.

My question is this" Does HD offer a lock Cylinder that will match the OEM Key of the buyer?
It would certainly be nice to key the keys to the bare minimum.

If so, does anyone know a P/N?

Thanks

You just go to your local dealer with your VIN code and Proof of ownership and they will order you a lock set w key matched to your bike.  I just did it with the hard bags I bought.  Lock/Key set takes about 10 days to arrive.

You don't even need to show any proof of ownership or ID Dennis.  Can call or online order with the 20% off discount shops and just give your keycode at time of order.

If you physically go to a H-D Dealership you sure do.  I manage a parts Dept at one and H-D mandates that we check that sort of thing.  I dont know how the online folks do it, but that is the way it should be done.  Otherwise someone could see a bike they like at bike night and copy the VIN and order a set of keys.

But, then again what do I know? ;D

Can only say my experience has been different.  Have ordered everthing from individual locks to complete sets locks from Lake Shore, Zanotti and Tri County at different times.  No one ever asked for a thing other than a key code.  Also ordered a set of saddlebag locks at the local dealer once.  They didn't ask for anything either.

Ours are running 7 to 10 days just like always.  We did get a set back that did not work last week, first time ever for that.

Im sure that happens frequently and have heard that before about online.  We dont ask our regular customers or ones who bought their bike from us for anything either.

I just figure it is best to tell the poster what the routine should be so hes prepared and doesnt waste a trip rather than him expecting to not have to produce those things.

Forewarned is definitely forearmed.

Hey Dennis, I vaguely remember that that the tour pak lock may not be shown in the parts catalog as a single piece by itself.  It may be in the book only as part of a complete bike lock set.

If that's correct let me know.  There is a part number for just that tumbler by itself.  I'm sure I've got it hand written in to one (or more) of my parts manuals.

Thank You Don.
I will ride over to my local HD Shop and check that out. They gove me 15% Off as a HOG Chapter Member and i get along pretty well with the Parts Manager.

There is a TSB for the tourpak locks.
I needed to get it for my dealer in order to get a matched tumbler.
