Vent on lowers: Any tricks to opening while underway?
« on: April 07, 2012, 12:13:39 PM »

Is there a trick that I'm missing to opening the vents on the lowers while riding or is it like I have been doing and just reaching down?

You just have to reach down.  I adjust mine when the bike is stopped.

I just took the doors out as I don't use them anyway and they seem to vibrate partially closed sometimes anyway so I just removed them and get a little more air for cooling.

I try to remember to open or close mine before I get on the bike but most of the time I forget. So I just reach down and push the door open because I can never remember which way to turn the knob. May take the lowers off when it starts staying a little warmer, even tho I like the way it looks with them on.

Thanks for the replies ... I'm able to open / close them on the run I was just hoping for an easier method.

CV0 senior chief, I have opened and closed mine a few times on the fly, but honestly it is much safer to pull over as some of the other guys have said. All it takes is one little goof up and you could be in a world of hurt. Just my 2 cents and two beers.CAHDBIKER

As suggested by 110mofo, I did the same to help keep the engine cooler.

Reach down with your left hand and turn the knob, pull in the clutch then reach down with your right hand and turn that knob......only tip I can think of is use the knob.....don't try and slide the door.

Underway?  what is that?  You can take the chief out of the Navy but you can't take the Navy out of the Chief.  Thanks for your service Shipmate,  David

LOL ... I do notice that the port forward vent is easier to access, might be because of the eye patch on the starboard side. Thanks for your service also!!

Just open the hatch before you get underway....   Hell this is turning into the GOAT LOCKER.
