WOW  :'(. Happy to hear you walked away after seeing the results of your MC but there has to be something that came lose to have caused such a wobble after one mile of slowing it down.  Was your frame bent after the accident?

Imho, any time you take a Harley over 85 to 90 mph, you are taking a big risk. I've survived a few tank slappers - just barely, and it ain't no fun.  I chalked that up to my crazier days, right up there with wheelies and burnouts, and I don't do that kind of stuff anymore.  I trashed a lot of bikes, and earned a number of scars and knots on the noggin over the years learning the hard way. I do however have to agree that adding throttle briefly until things settle down can help if the wobble is getting worse upon decel. That worked one time, and another I just rode it out and it finally stopped as I got under 35-40MPH. A buddy of mine insists he slammed on the rear brake to do a blip skid and that helped too. I suppose at that point, try anything. Either you get lucky or you don't.

Thank God you're here to tell about it.

First off glad to hear you are OK.  I have an 08 SERK and have top over 100 many times and have not had an issue after doing the AK-20 & the Bitubo's.  Not saying for one minute that you did anything to end up in that situation but under normal conditions I think we can all agree that these bikes should be able to handle 100mph for long periods of time.  My opinion is that something was not right with your bike and this would have happend at some point.  The only good thing about this is the bike is where it can't hurt anybody and you have a new ride without any possible issues.

Ride safe

That stinks, glad you're OK. Something was definitely wrong with the bike. Hope you find out what it was, because I'm curious to know. Here's to getting back in the wind soon.  :drink:

First and most important glad your OK . Now I have the same bike and year down to the same color . Needless to say your post got my attention . I was out on a 4-Lane doing 75 to 85 in gusty conditions on the same day as you had your accident. I had a little buffeting but nothing that worried me . If I would have had to hit the asphalt in the location and traffic I was in .......... Please keep us posted on the cause . Is there a consensus on how to handle wobble ? I have heard and read different techniques , never experienced it myself .

Indeed the safest road to Hell is the gradual one - the gentle slope , soft underfoot , without sudden turnings , without milestones , without signpost's.

As of today I am almost 100% healed all road rash is gone just a little scab on the chin is all but that is the physical the counssion symptoms are still effecting me however and still have 3 weeks till I am cleared to drive. A rep from Harley is going out to look at the bike at the insurance impound lot to look at it and see what the problem wound up being and once I find out it might be the fault of the dealer that did the service only 10 days before. So we will we how this turns out and once I find out I will let you all know what the results are.
