If you get a chance check out this mod. I installed it a couple of weeks ago really makes the tach easy to read at night. Looks a lot closer the the speedo now. Something it should have been made with from the beginning.

Ed...so when you get the tack out of the housing...this goes into the tack housing, replacing the original board, or adding to it.  Soldering involved?  I can do that, just wondering where the thing goes, since it doesn't show or tell in the pic or PDF file for tack removal.

There is a link to a PDF file on the Heavy Cycles web site that shows the install. The new tach light,LED, replaces the existing light, incandescent. The new light replaces the existing exactly. About 20 minutes to install. No soldering just unbolt one and bolt on the replacement. There are a few steps in between, you need a dental pick, exacto knife and sensor rated silicone. I think with shipping the total was around $60. but it makes a big difference, works great.

Yes, I'll be installing all the parts I have received...waiting on the tailight, but can do everything without that part, if it doesn't get here by the weekend.  None of what I'm doing is a big deal at all...the hardest thing is the module for making the rear lights work together...just read all the instructions and it's just a matter of moving the outer rear fender, then everything is a piece of cake.  So...wiring first, then base plate, then luggage rack and sissy bar...then install the new seats and backrest pad.  The tailight is basically a pop out/pop in deal, so I can do that after the fact if necessary.

Will have to check out the tack lighting mod when I ride it at night, to see if I'm going to spend that money.

I DID THIS MOD ALREADY & ITS NOT THAT BAD GETTING THE REAR FENDER APART ,ITS MAKING IT ALL GO BACK TOGETHER, WITH THE ADDITION OF THE MODULE. ITS VERY TIGHT, I MEAN REAL TIGHT. THEN WHEN I WAS ABLE TO GET THE TAIL LAMP TO GO BACK IN, AND EVERYTHING BACK TOGETHER, THE OUTER FENDER DIDNT WANT TO LOCKED ON THE REAR MOUNT. [smiley=beatdeadhorse.gif] I GOT IT!   THEN...... THE RED LENSE THAT COME WITH THE KIT! DONT WORK WITH THE SE V-ROD ... DIFFERENT TYPE OF MOUNT ........ BACK TO THE DEALER & ROBBED A PAIR OUT OF ANOTHER KIT.    Got the new Clear/Chrome version of the LED tailight on tonight....piece of cake to install, and man, does it look fantastic!!!  The lens is clear all over, but has CHROME on the inside surrounding the LED's, and the coolest lens I've ever seen!  When it's lit up, it is awesome and very bright!!  You'd have to be blind not to see this thing, day or night.  Also got the CHROME base plate installed, the CHROME rack, and the CHROME low sissy bar.  Installed the backrest too.  The Sundowner seat is the wrong part number, so will have to swap all that stuff out....looks like I might have an 07 version...they have changed the back clip for the pillion, and the way the driver's seat latches.  Got to check all that out this weekend when I return the seats for exchange.

But, it was dark when I finished...the light is going to be hard to capture, but I'll give it a try.  

The added chrome on the back of the bike looks good to me...balances the bike.  The friggin' tailight is NICE!!  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

I just ordered the Tall boy seat for my V, my a!$ is in pain from the ride last week. I hoping the new seat will be more comfortably then the stock seat. I'm 6' 1" so pushing back an 1-1/2" will help.

I will take some pics either today or tomorrow and post.  Yeah, Ed...at 6'1" you definitely need the tall boy seat...I'm only 5'8", so everything works for me.  The stock seat looks nice, but I'm not sure it would be comfortable for me over any long distances.  Fine for regular stuff though.  Suzanne is going to ride on the back for the first time this weekend...first bar trip this evening too...
