Question on Shipping from US to Singapore
« on: May 11, 2012, 07:19:38 AM »

A friend at the Health Club yesterday asked this question.
He has a relative in Indonesia who would like him to buy and HD in the USA and have it shipped to Singapore. No idea why he wouldn't want it shipped to Indonesia where he lives.

Question is: Can this be done? After is all said and done paying Export US and Import Would it be wprth it?

Obviously his relative in Indonesia isattempting to pay less for the HD then the Foreign Prices

There are a handfull of motorcycle exporters out there, try a Google search,,, this one appears to offer on-line quotes to anywhere in the world.    I think your friend would be better off looking for his nearest HD dealer and buy his bike that route  :nixweiss:

I don't have a clue, but I'd suggest your friend's relative needs to thoroughly research all the ramifications on his end before he worries about finding someone to export it to him.  A lot of countries have all sorts of restrictions on doing this sort of thing, and by the time you arrange to have all the inspections and modifications and bribes to authorities taken care of, it's likely to be cheaper and easier to deal with the authorized importer and distributor in his country.  And then you have Harley itself; with it's recent crackdown on US dealers exporting parts or bikes I'm guessing it won't be all that easy to find one willing to export a bike to Singapore or anywhere else.

What is the actual intent here, avoid higher prices over there or just obtain a model that isn't officially imported to that country?

Have you every seen the price of a Harley in Singapore?  I have, in 2010 March a 2010 Street Bob was 38,000 Sing.  Or about 30,500 USD before tax.  There tax is huge and they have a VAT on top of the tax, if I remember right about 20K in USD in tax and Vat on it.

There is one of the coolest biker bars I have ever been to in my life in Singapore, the Handle Bar.  Blender is powered by an EVO and speed is controlled by handle bar grip.

Crazy city/country to try to ride in.
