TTS Tuner in SoCal
« on: May 16, 2012, 03:54:08 AM »

Does anyone in Southern California know of an EXCELLENT tuner who knows how to dynotune using a TTS Mastertune in the area?  I'm in San Bernardino, but am willing to travel a couple hours for a good tune.  Thanks!

The absolute best in CA period is "Mike" at Performance Chopper in El Cajon Ca 619-442-2500 (San Diego). His tunes take 10 hours but his results are amazing. My 2012 SERG is there as I write this. He did about 6 hours today and is finishing tomorrow. I researched this for weeks and then went in a couple of weeks before my bike showed up where he showed me about a dozen "maps" and results on his computer he had done on other CVO's. Cant argue with empirical data... I had my bike tuned in OR where i bought it and certainly had trouble just "throwing away" the money i spent up there for it but after talking to him and seeing those results, well...

Thanks for the info, guys.   :2vrolijk_21:

His tunes take 10 hours but his results are amazing.   ???

From a different thread, people seemed to say that a 10 hr dyno tune is an indication that the tuner doesn't know how to tune properly.  I'm open minded and I'll definitely give Mike at Performance Chopper a call, but it seems to me that an experienced tuner wouldn't need that much time.  Plus, at ten hrs, does it cost $900-$1000?   :o  On the other hand, we often get what we pay for...

Perlinal, please let me (us) know your results.

Thanks

Got the bike back yesterday, 95 HP and 120.6 Torque (DandD Fatcats and SERT only performance mods) Hesitation and backfire completely gone. I am very pleased and feel like I got my money's worth...

Thanks, Alan

Damn, that's pretty amazing.  I spoke to Mike at Performance Choppers today, that man can talk the horns off a billygoat!  But seems to be a great guy.   :2vrolijk_21:  I particularly like how early the torque comes on.  The 255 cam is great for that.

If/when I get my bike tuned, though, I'm going to request the tuner uses SAE correction, just to avoid any controversy here.   ;)

Do you know which gear the was used in the final pull?

The Maple RG was the model I was looking for when I first saw the '12s.  I think that is an amazing lookin bike.  I bet it runs like a scalded cat now.

Ride safe, maybe we can go for a ride sometime.  San Diego is a place I like to see as often as possible.

hey Dan, I believe it was 6th. it does run like a striped ass ape now with no downside. Mike loved to pontificate for sure but at the end of the day, really knows his stuff... As I said before, I had the bike tuned in OR where I bought it and was happy with 109 (though there were a few problems) then a few different people told me about Mike.  would have killed myself if I had shelled out all that money and ended up in the same place (there were certainly no guarantees) but I figured when 3 different people from 2 states told me that he would get "every drop" out of the motor, I had to give it a shot. Glad I did, very noticeable difference!
Love to ride with you sometime when you get down here!
