Do u feel that the ConV need another Brake disk?
« on: May 16, 2012, 01:09:01 PM »

Coming down from a VROD , I think that the ConV would benefit from another brake disc, what do u think?

Just my $.02 but:  If you want better brake feel, try installing a set of Lyndall Racing Brake Pads in your stock calipers, first.  It will cost you a lot less than installing a second front rotor and caliper and my get you want you're looking for.

What and hide those awesome rims? I was quite surprised at the (lack of) braking power of the ConV however there is a simple fix that can improve things somewhat.

I changed the front and rear stockers to Lyndall Z+ Brake Pads and they made quite a difference. There's an older thread in the ConV forum with more detail and comments.

I'd suggest you actually call Lyndall to get the latest info on the front pads for your bike.  The Convertible front pads are Harley p/n 46363-11 (part number changed from the 2010 to the 2011-12 model), and there is no cross reference to that number in the chart.  The rear pads are Harley p/n 42298-08, and that cross references to the Lyndall 7257.

Since this is my first bike I thought the brakes were good, especially when compared to the Korean bikes that I had to ride on my training course.

I've always felt the brakes were adequate, but I have the hardest time trying to do a stoppie.

The part numbers were for my 2010 FLSTSE so keep that in mind. If the brake calipers were changed in 2011 when they added ABS the pads may be different as well.
