Who Has a CVO and lives in townhouse or apt
« on: May 28, 2012, 10:00:23 AM »

Just wondering how many have a CVO and have to keep it out in the weather. Would like to know of any interesting ideas on how you guys cope with trying to keep your bikes looking garage kept if that possible.

I did this many years ago.

A couple of ideas for you to consider;

Buy one of those prefab tool sheds with a raised floor. Then put down some plastic to keep the moisture from coming up from the bottom. If you can, place the shed near a outside electrical outlet and place a heater with a thermostat on the wall for the winter to keep the bike cozy.

A good lock keeps it secure.

I live in a loft and there is a warehouse nearby that was converted into a storage facility. I rented a ten by ten for my bike and I hooked into the light fixture for electricity for the battery tender. It works extremely well for me. I kept another Harley I owned outdoors but under covered parking some years back. It didn't work well because moisture kept getting at the chrome parts. I wouldn't recommend spending that kind of money on a CVO and leaving it outdoors. If you decide to go ahead anyway then check the bike often and keep it very clean and very dry. It doesn't need to be out in the rain for moisture to build up and worse it takes little time for that moisture to cause damage even if it's only cosmetic.

Does the complex have an area for small enclosed trailer parking?

I know that somebody might have a heart attack from the attached picture because I was about to. I tried to cover it with 2 layers , a plastic one & then the CVO cover yet I live in a very dusty area. It is also very hot during summer , can any body solve this equation

You might have to beef up the filter to keep the fine sand out but this is a step in the right direction.

I live in an apt and purchased the Cycleshell when i got my CVO and it is the BEST thing ever. I pull it in and just pull the shell over it. Just like a small garage. It has a floor, easy to set up and use, and does good on windy or stormy days. It did great this winter. No problems at all. Highly recommend it. If you want pics let me know. I did a lot of research and there are many brands, but the Cycleshell has a floor, and had the best reviews out of all the ones I looked at. Glad I chose it over the others.

Which size did you choose for the ConV?

I used to keep mine in an Enclosed trailer that I removed the wheels from and set it on blocks just high enough to keep the hubs off the ground. This also serves a purpose if you need to haul it somewhere for whatever reason and don't have a truck. You can get enclosed trailers where the back door is the ramp and all is well.
