Went back to the shop...they replaced the battery in less than a minute.

Tomorrow it goes in the bike, and sits...cuz it's raining like hell in KC tonight

..it ain't the rain...it's the lightning you can read by.

Reading by lightning reminds me of the disco bars of the late 70's early 80's, you only see every other word!!!

Paul,

Best advice I can give on this subject is to put the new battery on the Battery Tender for a day before using it.  I've found over the decades that starting out with a fully charged fresh battery makes a difference in life expectancy.

Not trying to be picky here, but I noticed several folks referring to the Harley battery as a "gel battery".  Actually, these are AGM batteries (Absorbed Glass Mat), with the electrolyte "absorbed" into a very fine mesh boron-silicate glass mat.  A true gel battery has a silica material added to the liquid electrolyte until it "jells" (think jello).  Both technologies provide a leak-proof battery, but the AGM is much more forgiving with respect to charging rates, and is considered to be the superior technology for a vehicle starting battery.
