Installing Cams and Throttle Bodies
« on: June 02, 2012, 08:57:34 PM »

I have no idea how to upload more than one pic so I am sorry I cannot share all of the fun I had putting them in.
So....I yanked the cams today and replaced them with Woods TW-777 and before I put them in I took a picture and found something interesting.  The cams out of the 2009 FXDFSE bike are CVO 255 cams. Are they different then the HD255 cams?  The duration of the Woods cams are very noticeable compared to the 255's in the pic.  I am also putting on a 58MM throttle body and intake.  Anyone put on the 58 and Dyno'ed it?  Any idea what this setup might do?

Where does it begin power and let off?  Did it make a noticeable difference?

Well finally broke them in!!! Much better performance than the stock ones and it starts much easier than the stock ones, unless it is hot.  If it is hot, it kinds of rolls over and starts barely.  Give a hair of gas and it fires right up.  I thought with the 58mm throttle body there might be some lag off the start, but alas there is none.  VERY HAPPY with this upgrade

Just a map at this point, heading to the dyno.  Dragging my feet since I am thinking it is too loud now with the pipes on there!!  It really makes a difference with the cams!!

At some point, you could have your local machine shop cc, and re-surface your cylinder heads, to optimize the compression for that Wood cam, in conjunction with a .030" head gasket.
You'd be QUITE surprised at that.
