The USA’s 10 best motorcycle roads  :soapbox:

A great road is a great road, but if you’re riding a motorcycle, you’re looking for something special: twisties, vistas, turnouts, that perfect stretch of smooth tarmac, and biker-friendly stops that make getting there most of the fun. Here are 10 of the best roads across America for an unforgettable motorcycle journey:

Pacific Coast Highway: 1,700 miles from Astoria, Ore. to San Juan Capistrano, Calif.
Appalachian Mountains: 770 miles from Front Royal, Va. to Deal's Gap, N.C.
River Road (FM 170): 120 miles from Terlingua to Candelaria, Big Bend, Texas
Going to the Sun Road: 50 miles in Glacier National Park, Mont.
Beartooth Highway (US 212): 68 Miles in Yellowstone National Park, Wyo.
Highway 12: 124 miles from Bryce Canyon National Park & Capitol Reef National Park, Utah
Coastal Highway 1: 170 miles from Kittery to Bucksport, Maine
Overseas Highway (Hwy 1): 100 miles from Key Largo to Key West, Fla.
Route 66: 2,200 miles from Chicago to Santa Monica, Calif.
The Great River Road (Hwy 61): 2,552 miles from Itasca State Park, Minn. to Jackson, La.

I think they missed a couple

Hwy 49 in Calif includes the Little Dragon
Decker Canyon - Malibu, Calif
Fergusson-Naciemento Road -- Central Coast of Calif -- a little south of King City and over to the coast

what constitutes a great road to one may not to another -- I can think of a good 20 routes here in my local area that are fantastic -- not necessarily really long - but good for a day jaunt

Highway 64 from Cimarron NM to Farmington NM is one of the best roads I have ever ridden. Outstanding views and wonderful sweepers. I can't wait to get back to it someday.

They've missed a lot of great roads but the ones listed are awesome.  The road up to grand mesa in CO, the three sisters in TX, half of arkansas, many in the black hills of SD, so many great roads to discover and ride.

Palamar Mountain Road in SoCal has always been recognised nationally. Some say its #2 next to The Dragon.  Doc

Colorado has several that could be added to that top 10 list.

My personal favorite is Hwy 92 from Crawford South to Hwy 50.   :2vrolijk_21:

Second runner up Hwy 82 from Hwy 24 to Carbondale.  :2vrolijk_21:

The USA’s 10 best motorcycle roads  :nixweiss:
How could anybody believe this? There is 1000 times that number for anyone to say what is the 10 best.
Come out here to Southern California and we could show you 20 to add to the list in one day!
Sorry, but there is just too many to say "these" are the 10 best.

Ridden most of the above.

Ride the Coronado Trail in eastern Arizona.  Presently labeled 191 use to be the Devil or Highway 666.

http://www.openroadjourney.com/loadroute.asp?rid=236

Just rode both this year.  Coronado is much better than the Dragon IMHO.  Hands down better.

Bear Tooth is great.  Million Dollar OK.

That said the Best is PCH 1.   Period.  LA to Eureka.  Absolutely the best.

I have ridden 5 out of the above...All good roads.  Can't believe no Colorado roads mentioned.
Trail Ridge Road.  Better than Beartooth or Going to the Sun roads.
