I still laugh about my local Harley dealer charging $28.00 to fill both tires with Nitrogen. They state it's a true bargin. :P

And I thought $7 a tire was to much. :nixweiss:

If nitrogen voids the warranty on OEM tires, what about all the dealerships that are putting nitrogen in all the new bikes they're selling?

That's what I found ironic when I first posted about this.

"Well sir, it appears you have used at least 78% nitrogen in your ties, we're sorry but we won't be able to honor the warranty. As you can see in your booklet we don't cover for nitrogen usage."   :nixweiss:

Wait til Harley figures out how to make that work in their favor.  :-X

When my dealer put on a new front several weeks ago, THEY suggested using the Dynabeads.  Guess they just voided my tire warranty according to earlier post about no balancing media in the tire.

Pure nitrogen is dry. That's one benefit of nitrogen. Air can have moisture in it depending on the air compressor and moisture filtration. Most tire sales people have little knowledge of nitrogen benefits other than the marketing hype most nitrogen generator manufacturer's supply with their machines.
Many machines are set to generate less than 90% nitrogen.

Some places, when pushed on the subject, confess to selling 98%, not really 100% nitrogen.  And of course there is no way they can completely evacuate all traces of regular air and moisture from a tire before they dump in the N2.  So it's anyone's guess what's really in the tire when they're done.

I'm not aware of any machines being sold to tire stores and car or bike dealerships that will go any higher than 98%.  It's highly unlikely you will find anyone buying pure laboratory grade nitrogen to put in customers tires.  So after all the BS and hype and flat out lies, you still get some moisture and oxygen and all that other stuff.  If you get it for free, fine.  If anyone is actually paying someone $39 like many dealerships and tire outlets charge, they need to seek help from a professional.

So he basically voided your tire warranty before the first mile.  Hopefully he didn't drain the Harley branded fluids in the engine and trans and put that "aftermarket" stuff in there.  ;)

$7 a tire at a tire dealer here in San Jose. Had it put into my Mercedes tires when replaced recently.

First time use for me, except when I was a Medic in the Army.  We used "liquid" nitrogen to burn off warts, (using a long Q-tip) which is around 425dg below zero in the liquid form!  We stored it in thermoses in the freezer.

I don't mind paying a little extra if it really does as claimed.  But the jury's still out on this one.  The darn tires on my car cost over 375 smackaroos each, so the longer they last, the happier I am. I do dislike the green caps...darn fugly.

As far a voiding a warranty?  I believe the corporate dweeb doesn't have a clue that it is an inert gas and will not damage the tire.  All nitrogen does is stay cooler than air with friction, helping reduce wear due to heat.  Perhaps that's why they don't like it...????

If challenged, they would not go to court on this one.  I suggest fighting them if ever denied.

here is the machine we  have  retail is approx 8500.00   Branick model 475

http://www.branick.com/uploads/Model%20475%20Specification%20Sheet%20.pdf
I charge my customer's a 1 time fee of $28.00 for the life of the tire on the current vehicle
if they pick up a nail or screw in the tire the pay only for the tire repair which is $15.00 no additional cost for nitrogen
however if the tires where purchased from us the no charge
now lets  say the person was traveling and they get a screw or nail in tire and the place doesn't have nitrogen   i will instruct the customer  to get the tire fixed  they can put regular  air in tire then at there convenience come by here and we will purge out that tire free of charge
