Oil Question
« on: June 16, 2012, 08:48:47 PM »

In one of the threads I was reading, a statement was made about using the proper oils.

1) it seems that many on here like Mobil 1 for the engine

2) I didn't see any reference to what is preferred in the primary and trans. On my other Harley, I always used 20-50 in all three areas -- are the CVO SE any different?

3) I have purposely left off what brand of oil I have been using -- looking for the straight scoop and if you like to recommend your particular brand and why you think its better -- that is fine --- just don't bash the other brands

Redline w Shockproof for the tranny (makes a noticeable difference) and Redline Primary Oil.

Mobile 1, Amsoil, Redline, and most synthetics will be fine.  Probably no difference if they're changed regularly.

Please do not lose any sleep over this!

I use Amsoil 20W-50 in all three mainly because of my own research and my dealer sells it.  A good buddy prefers and uses Redline in his SESG.  I really believe you can't go wrong with Amsoil, Redline or Mobil 1.  BTW, I like to change my own oils and do all 3 every 5k miles.  Good luck on getting an absolute answer to your question!  You may want to start a scorecard!  Ride safe!

hit the little button on the top of the page that say "search".  Then type in "oil", you can also type in "spark plugs" and "oil change intervals". That should give you plenty to read about.  ENJOY!!

No way!
I use it to coat/waterproof the plywood ramp to the lawn equipement shed.
I buy a new bike every few year so I can get that Syn 3 to treat that ramp.
