I've been having some problems with my 03 SERK engine so I'm guessing I'll tear it down and rebuild it as it has 60K on it now and I plan on keeping it a long time. Presently it's a 103 with S&S570 cams and an .030 head gasket--no other mod's. I may also have the bottom end checked or rebuilt/trued if the runout is very high. It was fine when the gear drive cams were put in at about 22K miles, but I don't know what it is now. So I'm open for suggestions on what I should do. I really don't want a race engine, just a good, solid street engine---but I want it to be a little more than a stock 103. I'm open to some head work and possibly different cams but I think I'd like to keep the induction stock, unless someone has a really big reason to change that. I do want gear drive cams unless there is a viable/price comparable alternative. I just want an engine that performs somewhat better than stock but with a long life. I'm not against just shipping the engine off to someone, but I don't mind doing the disassembly and reassembly myself and shipping the bottom end off to be updated/crank trued, etc.
So what all are your suggestions? Even shop recommendations are appreciated. I'm located in eastern Indiana but of course I can ship things anywhere.
TIA,
Steve
