New Leak!
« on: June 21, 2012, 08:41:34 PM »

11k miles.  Noticed some drips under the bike, narrowed it down today. Left front side. Not sure what is called, the gasket where the primary case attaches to the main case.   Anyone seen this before?  Major job to repair. It is under warranty.  Pisses me off a seep at 11K mi.

To my knowledge it's not a common issue, but with that said, it's not a major issue to change out the gasket. Possibly could have been pinched during assembly or nicked? Any good dealership should be able to fix within a hour or so under warranty.

Nope! Never seen a Harley leak there. Nope... never! Well, maybe once... It's still under warranty, right? So let the Dark Lords of the Sith deal with it. I agree with the chrome inner idea.

Looks like the inner primary gasket gave up. You have to pull the primary chain to remove the inner primary cover. But it's all warranty.

X3 on the chrome inner primary cover. Its $299 but the MoCo pays all the labor. Maybe add the chrome primary cover bolts too ($59) although once you start with chrome bolts its hard to stop. And they can get expensive....

Reading this forum is like having a bundle of cash in a room full of hookers.......!!!!

Fortunately my bank roll isn't as large as some, or my bike would have many more mods!

Going out on a limb here... Did you just complete the 10K Checkup?

Most, if not all, of the bikes that get there 10K checkup at our stealer go home with a leak that doesn't show up for a few miles.

All have been remedied by taking them back and the tech's using a little more care when putting things back together.   8)

I would say it's not the gasket thats leaking, look how tight the stator wires pulled. Very common leak is ware the
wires come through engine case. 11k and knowbody has fixed the tension on the stator wires. Look for a new place for service.   axil
