This one is of the dash with the inner fairing moved forward a bit to access the front clamp bolts.

This is a example of the wire plugs that you will deal with. One with 12, one with 12 (four blank), one with 6. and one with 2.    More pictures of them are in my gallery.

Hi Brass,

Could you give me a little more detail on this statement:

"Now, I moved the inner fairing forward by spreading the framework slightly, so the mounts (steel) will move just past the mounting position. It does not take much, so don't overdo it!"

I just did mine and I did remove the radio, which was very painfull.  I have to do another bike and would prefer to do it your way.

I did find this youtube but I am not sure how he got the fairing forward.

Thanks,
David

Once you get the cover off the switch you will see where the top bolts (holding the signals to the bike) attach the fairing (black stamped steel). Take a large screwdriver and spread the steel over the cast that it attaches to. Do this on both sides, this will move the inner faring just enough to get to the top clamp bolts. This steel has a formed lip that needs to be pried just over the cast that it mounts to. Much easier than removing the radio I think.

Thanks,
David

One more thing. I just found tiny scratches on my fork covers from the fairing movement while doing this. Not bad but put some painters tape in this area before doing the work and you'll be fine.

No problem with the mirrors.  I thought it would be way worse but it's not too bad. I'm really happy the way it came out  :2vrolijk_21:
