Iowa From Kentucky via Flordia and New Orleans
« on: July 06, 2012, 06:35:38 PM »

Vacation is finnaly here. tomorrow morning I will head out for Minneola Flordia to get the Angry bird Dyno'd By Doc's on Monday. Will ride around the area a day and if all seems fine I will head to New Orleans. Beefy will be flying down on friday the 13th to ride the Gypsy tour to Shark Week II in LeClaire Iowa. We will ride the Great river road to Memphis then
St. Louis and finally a 3 day rally in Iowa. I am meeting another Road Glider in Lexington Ky. "Donut" who will ride to flordia with me. There is a Road glider from Tx. that will be in Fl. and ride over to New Orleans with me. I will meet up with a few others on the way to New Orleans. Looks like about 33 road glides on the Gypsy tour! I am excited as hell and probably will have a hard time sleeping tonight. I will try to post some pics along the way.

Rode down from Stokbridge Ga. To Minneola Fl. today. Had a great ride. The freeway was absolutely nuts. We were doing 80 in a 70 and cars were flying past us in slow lane and fast lane weaving in and out. I tried the slow lane for awhile and same thing. People have lost their freaking minds!!! Like they all got a huge line of meth and then were told there is more for free just go south! Made Southern Ca. freeways look like a walk in the park!

Overall I was enjoying the madness except a few times when I got cut off hard! All smiles today !!!!!!

Ok I made it! Kentucky to Florida. got my Dyno tune and off to New Orleans. Meet up with 2 more riders in Bonifay Florida and 2 more in Tallahassee. We rode down to the southern tip of Alabama and took the Ferry to Dolphin Island. We rode the bridge off the island over to Biloxi MS. We had a seafood lunch and rode over to NOLA. I went down to Bourbon Street with the gang and we had a few drinks. We rode the bus both ways. The next day Friday the 13th I was flying beefy down from cincy. My day started with Bienets at cafe DuMonde. We walked around the French qtr and made our way to Bourbon Street. We had drinks at the oldest bar in the city. The whole town burned down in 1812 but they saved the bar/black smith shop with a bucket brigade which is quite a long way to the river. I had a shrimp poboy at a famous place there. Later we took a ride into a killer rain storm! I got soaked and rain suit was a sweat sack in the humidity there. I went to the airport to get Beefy on the bike in the rain. Her flight was delayed so I went back to the hotel and dried off. I waited awhile and got a taxi to the airport. She finally arrived after 12am and was suppose to get there Arrive 7:30pm? Since it was late and she had not been to NOLA I told the group to leave without me. Beefy and I spent Sat. dong the area. Well my feet both blistered up from getting wet and also sweating so much there. We left Sunday for Memphis and I had to goto Urgent care for my feet. They are both raw and bleeding. got some antibiotics and I was ready to go. We went to Saint Louis for a night then to Le Claire for shark Week II. By the time I got there my feet were in bad shape. I spent the next 2 days laying around the hotel. Friday morning we rode home. total milage for the trip was 3358. I had a great time considering my foot issues. I would do it all again!!!!!

Had my Harley boots on same ones for several years. I have a new pair I need to water proof them. The current pair I never did anything with. I also think the rain suit made me sweat excessively in New Orleans and I got soaked under because of the humidity. I am going to look into better foot wear options and update my 26 year old HD rain gear with some modern breathable one like a Frogg Togg? Also moisture wicking socks. I am on it because I need to be able to travel and rain is part of it. I wondered if I would have been less wet a couple times due to the amount I sweated under the suit. I don't know maybe I better stay out of New Orleans. A man could get into trouble there in a minute. I don't need the temptation!   Face

Agree with all of the above except staying out of N.O.  Great destination (for the music, if none of the other temptations)  ;D har.  spyder
