The X pipe is a header pipe produced by Fullsac.  It is only applicable to the touring bikes, so will not fit on your bike.  Fullsac does make some cores for your mufflers, if I'm not mistaken.

So, your local dealer never changes the exhaust system on any bike they sell?  If so, that would be highly unusual.

To be honest I'm just researching the issues here.  Once I know what questions to ask the Dealer I'll know more.  But I'd like to have them do the
work and find a way to reduce the heat and make the sound a bit better.  As far as power and mpg I have no complaints.

Thanks

Broken record time cuz I've mentioned this before. Wouldn't mind using the TTS but I've already purchased the race tuner. Would be cool to find a canned tune if nothing more than riding it to the tuners without wondering if I'm gonna burn something up. Not sure if there is a huge difference between the installed can tune the Harley shop used for the Rinehart true dual vs the Fullsac "c" xpipe and the stock cans with 2" baffles. I still wanna dyno it and the shop is only a 30 mile ride. I'd probably be fine as long as I don't lean on it too much but if someone has a tune for the new combo I'd be interested.

On Harley's heat often gets less tolerable with increased displacement, cam lift, and compression. On a stock touring HD a header without a catalytic converter along with a high flow air cleaner, good exhaust pipes and a good ECM map that allows the engine to run richer will lessen the heat. Other than the V-Rod all Harley's run hot to very, very hot. Check these sites to find out more about the X-Pipe and a similar header from Jackpot.

Thanks, obviously I need to study this and see what can be done.

Check in on some V-Rod forums and see if you get the impression they run any kind of cool.  When they first went closed-loop folks were talking about burning their jeans legs...

LOL, I'm patient and I'll call again on Monday.

I order the x pipe this morning, can't wait for the install and then the tune up!

Got the fullsac header pipe on the bike.  Nice piece, well constructed.  Went to the tuner a few days ago and got it back yesterday.  Wow, nice difference.  Torque over 100 from 1800 thru 5000 rpms peaks at 112.  I have the stock mufflers and it sounds  great, plenty of volume when you open it up and a nice rumble at cruise.  First impression is that it runs quite a bit cooler.  A/F ratio looks good too.

I had my local H-D shop install the X-pipe and the SEPST.  He recommended the tuner since he had plenty of experience with it, and suggested that if I ever had problems on the road, that other shops would likely be able to diagnose and correct any tuning issues.  Hard to argue that, and I'm not sure I'd be able to tell the performance difference between the SE and a T-max.  Happy with the tuner/pipe combo, though!

Either tuner will net the same result in the right hands.  The TTS just has a bit more functionality in certain areas to make it more user friendly, but they both do the job.  If your dealer tech is more comfortable with the SEPST, and knows what he is doing, the choice is fine.

I have the fullsac cores and x pipe. I had my local dealer dyno tune with the SERT and have a great fuel air ratio. Straight line...... and performance that you can feel. I admit that I may have been able to get a little better numbers with the TTS and Fullsac's map, but I also like the fact that my local dealer did all the tweaks as my bike is still under factory warranty.

I agree but have never tuned a bike before because I always used the HD race tuner. I guess I am afraid to complete the download correct, even knowing  I am great with computers and can do most modifications myself. I guess my next question is how difficult is it to use the TTS tuner.

Its actually pretty easy, the Mastertune manual is very easy to follow, and the guys here are really good to give advice as well.  I just did this myself for the first time.  So far I have 4 VTune runs done and am running with that as an intermediate calibration until I get some time to do a few more VTune runs.  If you're great with computers it should be no sweat :)
