The rest of the story on Elvis's retirement
« on: August 12, 2006, 05:46:09 PM »

Some of you may have noticed that I am selling all of the touring gear I had for Elvis my 03 SERK after having bought the Croc/Alligator/Ostrich saddlebags and seat from Tailup. The reason for this is that I am not going to be racking up the long miles on ole Elvis anymore. I really would like to be able to pass this bike on to a grandson or grand daughter some day. For what little I will be riding it, I am sure that I am not likely to encounter another like it with the things I had already done and now these one of a kind leather bags and seat.

Yesterday I bought a 2007 Mirage Orange Pearl Road Glide with a paint match king tour-pak, mounting hardware, rider and passenger backrests. I am impressed with the fact that the 96" motor has the same stroke as the new 110" and can easily be bumped up to a 110. Also, getting the factory installed 6-speed and a lot of other new technology. (lots of new stuff I found out about in the 07's)  So this becomes my long miler and everyday bike. And damn it's gonna be good to have two bikes in the garage again.

And that's the rest of the story.

Spiderman,
Congrats on the new scooter. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] Guess you will be a member of the "Pumpkin" club now that you have the orange scooter. ;) I can't wait to see it in person.

Wish I had the bike to take the pics of dudes. The bike is on order, due to arrive Mid September. Owner didn't order any orange bikes, doesn't think they sell well. Imagine that. Anyway, if you get a copy of the big 11 x 17 factory brochure for 07, the Orange RG is featured with the new SEUC in the Touring section.

San Jose HD has one on the floor.  I have to agree with you, it looks great.  It's the color combo that I would buy.  In fact, I was telling Andy today that it would be a good match for his pumpkin  ;D

Well the best thing is, the new RG is a blank canvas. With the addition of the Croc bags and seat, Elvis is about as far done as any H-D could be. I am going to enjoy going to MV and Biketoberfest and checking out all the RG's and seeing what looks good and getting ideas as to what to do. I plan on doing the 110 upgrade as soon as my dealer has a few under his belt. I will be reading the site for what folks are doing for breather, pipes and tuning on the 96 and 110 motors. Beyond that, the sky and my bank account will be the limit on this new ride. I may hold a naming contest for it at MV, so everyone headed there please think up something that would go good with Elvis

Adios amigos

Way to go, Big B!  Saw one in the dealer's back room, and all I could do was stare :o
The orange is as bright as the pumpkin seeg and it looks GREAT!

. . . Of course, I was told that only the seegs would have that color. . .  :(  ;)
