Jostens
« on: July 22, 2012, 12:48:53 AM »

I saw in the local HD shop that Jostens makes HD rings, I remember the name from high school. I went onto the web site (www.jostens.com) and designed a cool ring for my 11 SERG. I dig the Harley #1 and I was able to incorporate that into the design. There are options for EVERY Harley model and a CVO Specific page with every CVO also available. I was able to add my name and VIN # to the inside of the ring.

The only bummer is I have to take the print out the the local HD before I know what the ring will set me back. I'll report once I am over the "sticker shock"!

Before you do ANYTHING, call Rebecca over at Tri County HD 513-874-4343. They will give you the CVO 20% discount on the ring. I think it got mine down around $700.

Yep, same company that's been cranking them out for years.  I ordered one with my FLTRUSE; had name and VIN engraved.  I got the large--it's a real hunk of metal, but it looks great and the details are cut well.  Definitely shop around for the best price!

That's pretty cool....

It would be nice if they showed retail pricing while building the ring (I may have missed it).

Shop around where? Does someone else aside form Jostens make the ring? If not, then HD is the only placxe to order it. Is there much of a pricing difference in Dealers aside from the one one mentioned above?

Wow, 20% off and it brought the ring DOWN to $700!!!! I was thinking along the lines of $400. I LOVE the design and the ring would be great, but $700? I donk like it that much!

Harley has had a licensing agreement with Jostens for years.
So the dealership is the place to order one of those rings. You can't order them from any other location even Jostens. That is why one of the 20% off dealers are nice.
My local dealer gives a HOG member discount once a month and I wait for that day to get big ticket items.
As far as ring pricing I bet the rising price of gold has an effect. The rings are large and heavy.

I save money and buy the alloy metal version not true gold. I think it was about half the price of gold, been a couple of years though since i bought one.

As far as specific models not being available look at the thread I had here several years ago. I like to think that fellow SERG owners made enough requests at the dealerships  and Jostens to create the demand for the overlooked model ring.
Those of you without a ring model may want to do a similar thing.

Also as far as owning the ring, it makes a nice conversation piece. It is a nice way to remember every model bike you have owned too. I like it better then holding on to a "Gold" key.
It could be something to pass on to your kids or grandkids, engraving of your bike with your name and vin#, and any personal touch you choose.
Worst case scenario you could knock the snot out of somebody with it if you had too... :huepfenlol2:

Possible alternative here guys....

I met/talked to Scot yesterday at the 'Day of the Hog' ride (Omaha, NE).   Mentioned to him about coming up with some CVO 'styled rings/jewelry'....possible group buy for CVOHarley custom design?  He was enthused to possibly doing such a custom project.  I encouraged him to join the site even though he does not currently own a CVO...however he does ride a Road King.

I saw some of his products and actually purchased a knuckle-buster for myself (Royal Empire Shield Ring)....whereas the wife bought a leather-style bracelet.   This is high-quality stuff guys.   The best part is he is more than reasonably priced and he uses stainless steel material that will nearly blind you and will last forever.  AND is made right here in the U.S.

I made a posting for him in the 3rd party buy area when he did his initial site launch  ( http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=75580.0 ) and he said a couple folks from here have already contacted him...not sure who it was though.   Take a look and judge for yourself...the quality & price & shipping can't be beat.

Just remember, if you sell the MC the ring is made for, HD requires you to return the ring & there is no refund.   :nixweiss:
