freedom Shields - less wind noise?
« on: August 18, 2012, 01:16:41 PM »

I have been toying with picking up a Freedom shield as I love the looks of them. I currently run a conventional 8" shield and while I have no problems with buffeting, I do get a fair amount of wind noise at highway speeds. Had a loaner bike a couple weekends ago, an ultra with a high, high shield. Hated looking through it but no wind noise at all.

So my question to those of you with freedom shields, do you notice less, more or the same noise assuming you are comparing similar heights?

Yes, I have a 9" freedom shield. BSR and I talk to each other easily, I hear every thing she says now ( damnit ). I'm keeping on the bike anyway. :huepfenlol2: I really like my freedom shield and their customer service is great. I replaced the stock H.D. 9" shield on my FLHTCUSE4.

Same here.  I ride with the 9" and I have no wind or noise issue's.  Great shield  :2vrolijk_21:

I rode acros the States with a 12" screen and had no problems whatsoever...it rained lightly a couple of times, but lightly, in daylight and I could see well enough....when I got my bike back to Aust.,I rode to Brisbane and back (2,500 mls) and struck lots of rain on my way back when entering Victoria, (typical) and encountered incredible dangers as I could NOT see over the top of the windscreen and at night with the lights and the truck spray it was terrible conditions, hanging out the side to see the lanes...was too dangerous to stop in the deluge...so whatever you decide on please ensure that the windscreen goes no higher than your nose....I have since fitted a 6" smoked, which is perfect...I am 6' and ride a '10 FLHXSE....you generally buy windscreens on fine days!!!!
