Bluegoose, I recently replaced the rear on my 09SEUC. I got it from a place called sporttour.com for $185.90. delivered to my door.(513-761-0936) Took it to my local dealer and had it installed. Front still has the Dunlop which was replaced under warranty. The American Elite rides smoother and is quieter then the original rear dunlop.. Another company called Chaparral  Motorsports currently has the American Elite advertised in Cycle World for $179.88. (800-841-2960)
Just for the record I am referring to size 180/65 B16 81H.  (my tire pressure is always 36 PSI front and 40 PSI rear almost always ride with passenger) CAHDBIKER

Thanks very much for all the replies.

I think I'll try the Elites this time.

cahdbiker - thanks for the info on price - that is the size I'm using - beats the best price I could find by $10.

Muddypaws, yes that was the total price delivered to my house. I rode the bike to the shop ( my wife brought the new tire to the shop for me)  dealer charged me $78.00 labor to remove old tire and balance and replace new one. So tire and labor to install came to $ 263.90. CAHDBIKER

I know this is an old thread.

I just took my American Elite's off after 14,500 miles of use.   Front air pressure was always 36-38 and the rear was 40-42  psi..

The front was worn out.  The rear was not worn out but was scalloped and howled so bad they were changed out.  Was not handling like it used to either.

The original Dunlop's had 17,500 miles of use.  The rear was howling badly and scalloped.  Again, front was worn badly.

Put on Michelin Commander 2's this go round-have never had Michelin's on a bike.  They are a nice looking tire but did not like the made in Thailand.  Have Michelin's on 2 cars and p/u truck and have always been happy with them.

Have not ridden with these tires yet.

Just wondering now the Michelin Commanders worked out for you. My bike only has 7500 miles on it, just got it. The stock tires are horrible with the road snakes up here. Seems like I'm riding on ice.

I only got about 4000 miles on the Michelin's before my accident so don't know how long they will last  (no longer have bike).
The  stock Dunlops and the Elite's were great handling from the start.  The Michelin's seemed like it took 500 miles before I got used to how they handled.

I don't know if the Commander's are a soft or hard compound (hard I suspect) but the tires squeaked when moving around the garage with engine off.  The Dunlop's were quiet.  Air pressure was spot on.

Thanks for the rapid response. I've usually had good luck with the D402 on previous bikes. But was wondering if all the mileage claims are true with the Michelin.

american elites ride better, are quieter, smoother over the rain grooves, great in the rain, and are cheaper than the 408/407 combination...seems pretty simple to me...I will definitely be buying another set for my bike

and yet the dunlop rep says that the rear american elite is the same tire as the hd branded dunlop, only without the hd branding and a different name (since the harley tires are sold via hd only)

The American Elite 3 ( current edition type 2?) Is suggested to be run at 40 front and 40 rear now. Just as the d408 and d407T

I don't know what everyone else is seeing but down here in the mid south 15k is about max on front or rear tire life. BOTH tires are lasting/handling well

I have a 2013 SEUC that I just had a new Elite tire installed on the rear last weekend. The tire that I replaced was the original Dunlop that came on the bike. I put 21,600 miles on it. I hope the Elite does as well. I was told that 42 psi is the recommended tire pressure for the rear.
