I'm glad I started this thread. I have been reading a little on suspension but never thought it applied to me. Well now I know. I am going to start my research and price shopping now.... Thanks guys
I'm kind of a suspension freak, so I go all out and invest a lot of $$$$ in what's on my bike, but you don't have to go that far to get quality components, especially if you don't have needs to lower the bike due to being short in stature. Keep everything stock height if possible in order not to lose ground clearance. I have yet to read or hear about one single person who made the necessary upgrades to their bike's suspension who did not report that they wish they'd done it before. The stock HD shocks, and particularly the forks, are simply horrible, but 9 of 10 owners just don't know it 'cause they don't have any basis for comparison. Stopping the front end diving under braking, more predictable handling in the twisties, and a generally more responsive, yet plush ride is what you'll get. You'd be surprised how often your front tire is not making good contact with the pavement due to poor repsoniveness from the crappy springs and valving in the stock Showa fork components.
Even Fired00d finally got around to upgrading his suspension, replacing the bushings, etc on his '05 SEEG, and he's now a convert...
