Anything Else when Changing out Compensator
« on: September 04, 2012, 09:41:17 PM »

I have a 2008 CVO Road King with about 5K miles.  With all the horror stories on the compensator I think I will pre-emptively change mine out this coming winter.  Anything else I should consider doing at the same time while I'm in the primary?

Yea, if you let the dealership do the work, double check that the drain plug is tight, that there is oil in the primary and that the fasteners holding the primary case on are all there and tight. Then say a prayer that they didn't forget something inside.

The inner primary bearing (IPB) is another suspect part on the cruise drive bikes, so if you're in there anyway it may be worthwhile to do a close inspection of the bearing.  With so few miles on the bike it may be too early to detect anything, but I'd look anyway if it were me.

Get the primary bearing from Baker about 50 bucks, better than the HD one ask Jim (hddude)
