« on: September 07, 2012, 09:40:13 AM »

Has anyone here changed to different front forks on fxr2 or fxr3. Does traxxion dynamics improve handling of this bike? and also has anyone changed rear adj shocks to something better? thanks, dave

Dave,

I am planning on doing a CCE Fork Brace as well as Works Cartridge Forks to my FXR3 this winter. I want to stiffen up the handling and eliminate brake dive on my bike. The Works are about $400 and the brace is $250. I see no need at the moment to upgrade my Fox shocks as they are perfect and are fine for me as I don't weigh much.

I put Race Tech Emulators and Progressive Fork Springs. I was not impressed with the fork springs. They were too soft. Should have gotten the heavy duty ones. Later i was told that the FXR CVOs already had progressive rate springs but I dont know the specs of them vs the Progressive progressive rate springs.
I am in the process of putting a 49mm Wide Glide FXDF dual disk lower legs and FXDWG length fork tube front end on my FXR4 with CCE Conversion Kit. The axle was made for my 3/4" wheel foor the front end. I am using progressive 49mm heavy duty springs and Ricor Intiminators. It will be done in a about two weeks or less. I hope i can get used to it before my October trip to the Smokey Mts
Thanks

I don't have a CVO FXR but I do have a 1987 FXRC.  I replaced the front end with a Ceriani front suspension from Storz.  The best thing I ever did for my EVO.  Good luck with your choices.

Landshark,
Do you have any Photos of the bike and front end to share?
Thanks,

Here is the last one.  I am sorry they are a little fuzzy but not too much room to take the pictures.  I hope this helps.  Storz will take good care of you if you choose to go that way.

Very pretty Bike. I really like it. I did not know Harley painted some bike frames any other color than black.I thought it was only on latter CVO bikes. I never had a bike with a fancy front end. I hope my mew front end will handle nice.(FXDF front end with FXDWG length tubes Divorce intiminators and Progressive Heavy Duty springs) At least it will look good!
Thanks

I installed them many years ago and I think I paid about $1200 at that time.  I am sure they are much more now.  They are 42mm.  I believe he now sells 43mm.  The other option is inverted forks.  Either type is great.  Send him a message and see what he currently offers.  Let me know how it turns out.  My wife and I have 5 CVOs and I would part with any of them before the FXRC.  Still the best bike we have ever had.

I think Storz only makes 55mm inverted forks now. They don't show any thing else in their website/catalog now
http://www.storzperf.com/toc.html#forks

They are awesome from what I been told though - a local guy redid his 2000 FXDX into their Dynalite bike.
I think the are over $3000 now plus the triple tree etc. You have to really want it bad.

Motorcycle metal also has many Ohlins upgraded forks that are a bit more reasonable.

I am thinking about upgrading my FXR4 with a set of FXDX forks I have on hand. They have the advantage they are externally adjustable. I believe the works cartridges you have to disassemble the forks to adjust them. At any rate, the springs got to go, HD stock ones are always to light for me. Either Works or Racetech...
