I'd replace it since it'll be a lot easier now.....and way more convenient. When I HAD TO replace mine, the forth dealer I called had a belt in stock to courier to me. Peace of mind has gotta be worth the price of a belt.  And the mileage on a belt seems to be irrelevant....seen them last well over 160,000km....and seen them snap at 24,000km, a week after the 2 years warranty was up.

When it's torn down as far as mine is, it would be kind of stupid not to go ahead and replace it now.  Probably last my lifetime now.  Hopefully I'll get mine back together soon.  I should get the engine back in a week or so and then it's back together as I get time.

I'd replace it. If for no other reason than peace-of-mind. And go ahead and spring for the silly little belt tension tool. Takes all the guesswork out.

And for the nay-sayers... the $25 spent for the tension tool, pays for itself on every, single, trouble-free ride you have. Whether it's 25 miles, or 1000 miles.

Hope this helps!

Skippy 9,  My riding buddy got 180K out of the original belt on his 2001 Heritage. When he hd his shop send the engine into HD for a remanufacture he replaced the belt. He is probably an exception , but I also agree with the other guys. If it is apart replace it, because if it breaks shortly there after or whenever it breaks mosts shops will charge you about $450 or more to change it out could even be a little more if you have to do sprockets also.
