2011 SG Security issue
« on: September 18, 2012, 06:31:09 PM »

My buddy has a 2011 SG. His high beam and neutral indicators were staying on for no reason. He brought it to the dealer and they found the indicator panel bad. They replaced it and it all works fine, except Now when he turns the bike off instead of the turn signals flashing when the security arms, the headlight flashes. He called the dealer and they said nothing they did would cause this. Well wtf else could have. It didn't do it before the indicator panel was replaced. Any ideas??

Will have a hard time getting them to admit it, but any fool knows they did something! They may stand up, but I doubt it.

Krypto, get your buddy to go back to the dealer and have this crap fixed!  If they play the "we didn't do nutin' to cause it" song, best thing would be find another one on the lot/showroom OR have one of his buddies ride their CVO and compare how the alarms activation works.  Activate the alarm system by normal means of turning the bike off.  When the headlight DOESN'T flash and the brake lights DO on the other bike, he can then address the issue "firmer" with the service manager or owner (I'd go owner at that point).

All else fails, call the regional HD customer service rep and explain what has happened.  My bet is HD has heard complaints on this dealer before based on how their reaction is to this repair, if you can call it repaired.... ???

This dealer has always been top notch!! We are going to go up again this weekend and talk to the owner, which we do have a good relationship with, and see what happens. We went there one Saturday for my buddy to have the front end of his bike changed out to polished down tubes and cow bells and the owner gave us his personal truck to go out to breakfast while they were working on the bike. They really are a great dealership and in the end I think they will make this right but it remains to see how much aggravation will be endured before it gets fixed.

Update Bad load equalizer!! Remove load equalizer and led signals from front turns, put the original amber bulbs in and problem fixed. Received a new load equalizer and re-installed it with led turns and now turns flash as they should when security arms and disarms!!

Just installed a set of front LED turnsignals and a load equalizer myself this past week and noticed that the headlight also LED now flash's with the turnsignals when the security system arms.

Don't think it should cause any problems down the road should it?  :nixweiss:

Update Bad load equalizer!!

That makes a lot more sense than anything that had happened so far.  The original panel wasn't bad.  It only lights up when it's told to.  The fact that it was illuminating (not when it was illuminating but that it was illuminating) meant it was almost certainly ok.  The tech should have realized that and that there was obviously something else going on.
