Hadye, looks like a great ride! I've ridden in larger groups and it is a major pain to keep everyone together. Always good to have a "Plan B". Hope you enjoy your trip. Looks like a lot of planning went into it.
Curious about the train ride through the tunnel. Didn't you have to tie your bikes down on the train? Did you just stay with your bikes during the ride? How long is the train trip through the tunnel?
The only thing I learned from this ride is that a group safety can't be compromised by waiting for one member that spend too much in the toilet or smoking a cigarette. Yup, we are all friends but we have to stick to the tight schedule that every body has agreed upon in the general briefing meeting that has been held in the beginning of the trip. I won't say that I was left on my own, I was always in contact with the road captain, had every point set previously on my navigator.
Probably that which led afterwards that I & him arranged most of the short routes around south Austria where we stayed the longest duration through out the trip.
As for the train, your answer is NO. You don't tie anything. When we were only 4 bikes, there was a Car with us in our vehicle but for the rest of the group being 10 bikes they took a whole vehicle for them selves.
The safety guy will help you to park the bike diagonally as we park them in a group. Put them in the first gear & that's it. You will stay with your vehicle whether a car or motorcycle through the whole journey
The journey takes an average of 30-35 minutes , to find yourself whether in Europe or the UK .
The ticket cost about 150 US$ for a one way ticket for a single bike
This is how the bikes are arranged
