Video of the new HDP-Bomm IPhone Interface
« on: October 02, 2012, 11:36:52 AM »

People have asked me for this so here it is, a video of the HDP-Bomm IPhone interface. Now let me say that I am not a film director or actor (I do not have enough money to be an actor  ;D  ) so please do not rip me about my acting, directing or editing abilities.   :nixweiss:

Do you have to hit the reset :nixweiss: button on the phone before each new voice command

Not being I phone savy could this be used on a GzOne "verizion" phone with voice command?

Apple did not design a way to externally activate this function other then the home button. Most people would only use the function once in awhile anyway.

Sorry I did not see the second question. I did not test the HDP-Bomm with any phone but an IPhone 3, 3GS, 4 and 4S so I do not know if it will work with any other phone.
I have not seen the specs for the IPhone 5 so I do not know about it. Apple did change the design for the charger/IPod connector but I do not know if they changed the design for the headphone connector.

I originally thought that there was not a way to externally activation the Home button on the IPhone. I was wrong as there seams to be a way and I am working on redesigning the HDP-Bomm to facilitate this action.

It seams that the only option I can think of for activating the Home button on the IPhone is by using an externally mounted switch on the handlebars.

The problem with using existing switches already on the bike is making an interface that would not disrupt the switches original function.

If anyone can think of other possible solutions I am open to suggestions.

Jim; I'm interested, I just got an Iphone 5 and would love to have a way to connect it though to the HK system on the bike so I could make or receive the once in a while call from the misses while on the road through the headset. On my bike I have the ipod adapter thats in the saddlebag, so Im wondering if I hook the iPhone up there will it work with your HDP Bomm and give me that ability?

The IPod does not work like the IPhone. The iPod connects using the docking port. The IPhone uses the headset port on the top of the phone.

You really need to see the iPhone in order to see when Siri wakes up in order to use voice control of the phone. I am still looking to find a good quality switch to mount on the bars so that the user does not have to let go of the bars in order to activate Siri by pushing the home button on the phone. Problem now is finding a switch that looks good and does not cost $80.00. I am also looking at a different case because the added components to add the bar switch will not fit in the current HD Bomm case.

The current HDP Bomm will work the way it is but I think having a bar mounted switch is a safer way of activating voice control of the apps and taking or making phone calls.

The system works well running a GPS app, playing Tunes, sending texts etc.

Jim:  Were you speaking through your helmet headset when filming the voice control of the Iphone and HDP-Bomm?  I've tried using voice control on my Droid phone which works fine in my car but doesn't work well when speaking through a BT microphone headset on the bike.  Just wondering if the voice control on the Apple is more sensitive than the Droid.  Looks like a nice product again.  Way to go.

Yes I was using the helmet microphone.

The HDP-Bomm is only tested with the IPhone's. It has not been tested with any other OS such as Google’s. I do not know for sure if the circuit in the HDP-Bomm would work with a Droid or any other phone. It would surprise me if other phones would use the same circuit as Apple's.

I could design one for other phones but that would mean buying the phones and that would be expensive as there are lots of smart phones out there. Not knowing what the possible sales would be I would be putting out tons of money, a path I do not want to walk at the present.
