$900 plus labor for the F6F kit just to eliminate some noise is a bit steep, but if someone is so inclined Mr. Baker's stuff is pretty darned good.  Since I'm basically a cheapskate, I'd probably go for the 20 for $5.00 pack of disposable ear plugs myself. ;)

Just took apart a new 6 speed that had a wine in 5th gear. Checked the outer dimensions and compared them with the bearing.....002 difference. It looks like the bearing was walking on the shaft.

I got tired of the whine on my 09 FL. I bought the OE replacement 2010 transmission parts. 35467-06B Input shaft kit,35470-10 countershaft assy,35801-10 5th gear. All the parts at the time was less than $400.00. Harley says its not retrofitable but it is. I have mastertune so speedo calibration was taken care of there.
In my case shock proof heavy only delayed the whine. As soon as the oil was up to full temp it sounded the same as the convential 80w 90 oil.
