Don't waste your money on the OEM light.  Buy a LED. You will be glad you did.

Two best choices are Truck 7 or Harley Davidson Daymaker. If you don't like the $165 for the factory light you sure won't like the $300 - $500 price range of the LED's.  On the other hand I ponied up for the Harley Daymaker and glad I did. The factory light was useless on back roads and the Daymaker LED really lights up the night!!

I changed out mine to theses http://www.rallylights.com/detail.aspx?ID=350
I used the H4 100/80w Bulb. I ordered an extra bulb also, total came to 70 bucks, and what a difference, the lens is is a focused one and really lights up the road without annoying oncoming traffic.. Highly recommend this combo. Quick and easy change, you may have to adjust your light up just a tad.. but follow the manual and it will light up your life.

Go LED.  Can't beat it. I have the trucklight ph 7. Works great. Don't skimp. LED beats any halogen hands down

I bought the Truck light Phase 7 LED and it is AWESOME!  Riding down the road it does make the night look like day on BRIGHT.

BUT,  I do have a question that I am not real happy about.

The pattern is a wide rectangle shape so when you lay the bike into a curve the light goes to the ground and I have trouble seeing around the curve until I straighten the bike back up.  I also added the spot LED and it too has the same pattern.  So what I done to help this is to rotate my spots about a 20 degrees angle to where my spots are flat "level" when I go into a curve and this seems to help a bit.

Is anyone else having this same problem or is it just an ARKANSAS thing???  :confused5:

I ran this exact same combo on my Moto Guzzi Eldorado back in '85.  Rode at night a lot commuting on mountain back roads.  First time I rode with my friends they were like "What the Hell?" Those were "illegal" at that time, but OK now.

I run the HD LEDs.  Very happy with them once I switched the running lights to burn with either high or low beam.

There is a thread on this.  It is because the lights are focused so well with no "scatter".  I did the same with the spots.  Thinking about adding some moto lights or other HID or Halogen for fill.  Interestingly, my Land rover with projector beams uses Halogen fill lights along with the shutter style projector beams on high.  Block the halogens, and you light up the road.  With the fill light, you light up the world.  First time passengers at night always comment.

Noticed the same thing while riding in NC.  Is there a link to the thread AND can you post some pics of the angle you used.  Thanks.

X2  - I first went the upgraded Halogen Route, and it did make an improvement over stock, but I just wasn't 100% satisfied at night.  Just added the TP7, and it rocks!!

Here is what I did but still playing with it as I am not 100% sold on that ideal... but it does seem to help a bit... The only problem is if you turn left or right you only have ONE level spot instead of TWO.

I too would like a link to what Spada84 is referring to.

I went with the HD Daymakers (black/chrome) on my 2012 SERG - what a difference! I'm impressed with the side - side lighting at low. When I turn on the highs - the width doesn't change much but it REALLY throws out a beam in the center.

I also may be one of the few that like the look of them even when they are off!!

Another happy rider with the TruckLite Phase 7 LED headlight/aux lights here! They are fantastic, and are only $389 for the 3-light SET from Discount Fleet Supply... with the 5% CVOHarley discount. That's WAY less money than the H-D units, from anywhere!
