Factory said they'd cover the problem under warrenty as they should. I didn't do anything to affect the cam bearings or anything they could see..

Does this mean the factory is going to rebuild it or dealer is going to do it?

Sorry to hear of your problem... hope it all works out well for you... this scares me though as I have developed a low-in-the-motor sound that doesn't sound right. You can hear it at idle and just barely off idle... sounds like "toc-toc-toc-toc-toc". Can't hear it at other rpms and doesn't seem to affect power. My bike is stock with 5,000 miles on it. Does what I'm describing sound familiar? The "techs" at my local dealer told me to ride it and bring it back if it gets worse... now I'm worried. I don't want to be going 70mph with momma on the back & have the engine blow/sieze.... that would be VERY bad.  :o >:(

as of right now.. the factory is suppose to "re-manufacture" the engine. I never heard any unusual sounds coming from the engine till after it blew.. I was riding down the road around 70-75 with a cross-wind and my stero blasting, when she "missed" a couple of times and lost power and within a few miles, died..

After they took it apart, it looks like one of the cam bearings failed which caused ALL KINDS OF DAMAGE.

Maybe I'll know more after they get done.

Got my bike back on Friday afternoon. The factory sent a "new" motor as I was told they didn't have any way to re-manufacture my old motor. [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

I've been doing the breakin on the new motor and seat-of-the-pants dyno says this motor seems to run much better than the old one.. At 3K rpm I'm clocking about 76mph opposed to 73 mph on the old motor. Seems to have more get up and go than the last one also..

Don't know why.. but I sure am HAPPY again!! [smiley=banana.gif] [smiley=jalapeno.gif]

Glad they got ya back on the road....I'm at the 25K mark, so I'll be ridin with my eyes closed when I get up around 26,600, prayin she holds together.  :o

I really think I just got a bad engine.. or maybe I should say "cam bearing"  [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

It could be just one of those things that happen.. Feels GREAT to be back on the road with my baby!! 8-)
