the tech and he said he was going to do a "run out" on the crank for the factory rep and wait to see what the factory wants to do about it.

More to follow..

That is bull. Get on the horn right away to your rep and start laying down the ground work.
The tech is going to do a runout check for some a$$wipe in milwaukee to diagnose the bike witout ever seeing it.

Odds are the first reply will be warranty denied!

Don't ask me how I know this, but I didn't pay for my repair.

Well, I went over to the shop to look at the damage yesterday. Man what a mess... They really don't seem to know what happened to it. Cylinder walls really scored, oil pump missing one of the bearings, the pistons looked like they were "bead blasted" on the bottom side, one of the cam's is all torn up on the end, oilers in the primary are busted off, looks like the crank is wobbling. I was talking to the tech and he said he was going to do a "run out" on the crank for the factory rep and wait to see what the factory wants to do about it.

More to follow..

Jesus just hope that doesn't mean that while any competent consumer would assume this translated from shop-speak to English as "they'll decide how they're going to fix it"

Well, I talked to the tech again and he is thinking that the cause is going to be the cam bearings.. He took the day off yesterday and said he will finish taking it apart completely today. Seems like they're still waiting for the factory guys to decide on weather to replace the motor or rebuild it..

Now THIS THREAD TOTALLY deserves RANTING, WHINING & B!TCHING by poor TANK!!

IF they don't give you a new motor, or the value of same to use against another motor (110) of you choosing, I would be HAPPY to help you, FOR FREE, with negotiations with H-D!!

Craig......I think this all deserves much more discussion at MV.  How about putting the practice on auto pilot and coming out to take on site depositions in the mountains?  After all, it's only fair that you put up with this bunch for at least a few days.

I CAN'T do Maggie Valley THIS fall as I had already scheduled a big ARKANSAS ride the week before YOUR ride.  I am so envious of all of that are going to M.V. cuz I have yet to TAME THE DRAGON or the Blue Ridge Parkway (on my list), BUT I hope to join you all for next year's spring ride!!

How about UTAH (or southern Colorado AGAIN) for the NEXT CVO gathering??

BLM, on-site depositions would cut into our beverage and B.S-ing time, so I think I will just have to get all of your testimony by sworn affadavit, so we can spend more time TALKING BIKES AND MODS AND GREAT PLACES TO RIDE!!  :)

TANK, if you know an attorney in your jurisdiction, I would have him or her write a letter RIGHT NOW to your dealership DEMANDING a new motor, and find out from the dealer who the H-D Service Rep. is for your region, and carbon-copy H-D on the demand letter as well!!

ALL OF YOU HAVE A GREAT LABOR DAY WEEKEND IN THE WIND.  I have a short trail at 1 PM today and then I will be ITW myself!
