Let us take a closer look
« on: November 14, 2012, 06:48:21 PM »

Does anyone out there that have friends that live life WAY above their means??  Do you feel inadequate or just plain left behind because you don't have the "Stuff" that they do? Do they know better than you? Do they have better information than you?  CERTAINLY NOT SO. I have people in my life that do, and planned it as they knew that the government entitlement programs would help them out (BTW, They are about to get a giant haircut).  I can tell you that those plans do NOT keep you at a place to where you want to live, you may think they do but absolutely do not. I feel for my friend because he is in for a very rude awakening, there are many out there and they will all meet the same end. Get out there and work hard, save your money and prosper.

Good luck to all,
Best of luck to all

I agree. I work hard for what I have. There are a couple of good friends and family that are living it up at the moment. They go up and down in their financial world. I have 2 different people right now that will not speak to me because they owe me money and do not want to repay. I have not ever bothered them or asked them for the money back. They ignore me. It is pitiful. I lost a good friend because of this. He can be at the store and I can pull in and he will drop everything and leave so he does not have to talk to me.
I just wish everyone could understand what you are saying. I have worked all my life. My wife and I had nearly no money when we started out. I never asked anyone for help. We were happy and did not want for anything. I look back and have some of the best memories from then.
 Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Seems it's way to acceptable to live in a style that is above your financial station in life -- big house, new cars, giant TV, dinner out every night....all either mortgaged to the limit or financed through a credit card (at crazy rates, but the minimum payment is only 50 bucks a month - forever -). Instant gratification is the norm and seems some people have an attitude entitlement that I just can't quite understand

Several of my coworkers asked how I could afford a 2011 CVO and the wife can drive a new 2011 LEXUS IS convertible and the other toys in the garage. Easy answer = we worked our tails off for them and saved until we could pay cash. They think I'm kidding  when I tell them I have NO debt, no mortgage on the home, no auto loans and we only have one credit card and that gets paid in FULL every month. Yeah it did take us years of hard work to get to this point and being married to a wonderfull woman who also happens to be a CPA who understands the whole money thing made attaining the goals easier.

What gets me is some folks really give you an attitude when they see your possesions that you worked for - you know the ones -- comments like "must be nice to have all that money" or I wish I could afford that stuff" all the while with an edge in the voice that tells you they aint joking.
