Looking to cancel/deactivate forum account
« on: November 19, 2012, 09:43:33 AM »

I was searching for this option but I can't find it anywhere. How do you cancel or deactivate a forum account? If you are able to do so , do the comments or contributions you have made to the forum stay online or vanished?

Thank you

It's the internet, no matter how hard you try someone will feel a need to say something negative about something positive.
And sadly as long as they follow the rules of posting, they can and will.

Thank you SBB!!! You don't have to worry as Naltram said , my posts will remain with the exception of the one detailing the installation of the daymaker in my FLTRUSE deleted that one pictures and all.
As far as why I am leaving , let me say that this forum is formed by a great group of guys sharing info in innumerable issues , priceless forum. However it has its dark side. You can fight the Sith but chances are you will loose, even if your name is Darth.

Darth,

Sorry to hear that you're leaving... You've been a wonderful addition to this site with your insight.  You will be missed and I wish you the best.

Just have to say it... May the force be with you.

Good luck,

Darth .. I too ask you please don't leave us. The very post that you mention, regarding the Daymaker install, is one I have found most valuable. You post with pictures showing the install in detail is what has made me decide to purchase the Daymaker and install it myself.

If you decide to leave, please be aware that I found your posts invaluable.

Respectfully, DesertHOG

I'm new to this forum but I had a bad experience on another forum where I was a moderator.  I'm friends with a couple of different vendors who are well known the motorcycle community.   I posted a review of one of their products that was a prototype in development.  A forum member called the vendor and used the review in a negative way to try to get a discount and bashed the product.   Although my review was 100% positive, it created a huge issue for me and jeopardized my relationship with my best friend.   I was angry and I left the forum for about a year.  As time passed I realized that there's always going to be a jerk or two; especially on the internet.   I understand your need for some space.  It doesn't occur to most people that anyone can read our posts, look at our photos and use our words against us.  Fortunately, my friend and I are good but I don't ever post anything that I wouldn't share with the world and I never post anything about any of my friends products.  Perhaps there's a lesson here that you can benefit from.  Best of luck to you.

You can always just take a vacation of sorts, and just check in at a later date - or never.  You don't have to change your account status to to that?  Just becuase you have an activate account doesn't require you to visit on a regular basis.

Imho, leave the acct intact in the event you ever change you mind.

That's what I was going to say.  Step away for awhile before you take the action of deleting your account.  This place can get crazy sometimes, but it is still an overall great group.  The only person that needs to understand WTF you do something to your bike is you.  Thank God we don't all like the same things.

Darth,

You have been around too long for this.  I was on that thread so I saw the dialog.  Let it go, this is a great group, I've seen some heated discussions in the past that eventually faded away.  Whatever you choose, great choice in a bike, ride safe, well be here if and when you decide to come back!
