Mine is mounted under the front of the right floorboard, thank you Dave and Donna!

Be careful where you mount it. A lot of riders have put it on the bolt in the middle of the engine guard., only to end up denting the front fender. Under braking, the front forks will compress, the bike will drop, and the edge of the bell will come down and smack the fender.

It's a small creased ding that most folks can't see at first, but they'll find it washing the bike.

Mark

I have seen quite a few were people decide to fasten it to the front brake line right under the front triple tree. When you hit a sizable bump it pushes the fender up into the bell that then pushes up into the bottom of the triple tree and can possibly damage the brake line.

By the size of the dent, you will have a lot more than the ringing sound to remind you that you have a bell!

I heard that to be effective is has to be given to you by a friend and placed at the lowest possible area of your bike, that way the gremlins can never reach any part of the bike. :cucumber:.
Those are the 'rules' I was under the impression applied as well. My bell was given to me by the previous owner of my '08...said it worked for her.....and now it's on my '12. I had forgotten it on the bike when I traded it, and , after it was sold and still on the floor I noticed it still hangin' there and had then snip it off for me. For my Wife and her bike I got her one with some bling.....even under there it sparkles in the sunshine. We should be covered on this front!

I could never find just the right spot to hang my bell until I saw this neat little thing at the H-D dealer in Bangor, Maine this past July... It is quite simple replacing the allen nut holding the axle cover in place.  Best of all, it displays the bell where it can be seen and doesn't effect anything around it.

Mine are always behind the rear tire hanging from the rear fender.  Keeps them from catching up from behind.

I bought my bell at Dragon H-D. It has a dragon molded on the side. I zip tied it to the front brake line above the accessory switch on my RK, close to the switch so it won't mar the fuel tank. I like to hear & see it while I ride.

I used a heavier key ring and a long zip tie to provide the mounting point to secure my bell inside of my left side lowers.  I found a nice hanging spot that is part of the openable vents.  This is the second bike it has been on - given to me by a good friend.

I credit it for saving my and my bsr's bacon during a back tire puncture while riding through the twisties in the Hill Country.

My best riding buddy bought me mine at Sturgis in 1995. When he passed away (bike wreck) I moved the bell up to my clutch cable (hydrualic line on the CVO).
Now when it dings against the switch box I always think of him.

Not to rain on anybody's parade here, but the story behind the bell is that when it rings, it is supposed to grab up all of the road demons that cause crashes. (I swear, I have had two bought for me and both had the same story in the little velvet bag with eh bell). However the instory also statres that

1) you can not buy the bell for yourself and
