1) Get 124 installed!
2) Sell the old motor!!!
3)With that money, buy the new 7 speed from Baker!!  :D
4)Order in BLACK and never look BACK!!  ;)

If U are looking for other viewpoints, mine is this and I think it shows clearly what I would do within your parameters!!

On the 124 S&S drop in. Look at my other post on that engine. It really did very well for the price point.  It is always nice to reuse the parts you have but if its not going ot offer you what you want.... the 124 sure is a nice option. Color wise you could always have it PC to match. Or just pc the trans black would be even less work.

I have seen several posts that are pro drop in motor (S&S124) I haven't been able to see any pics of a bagger with one of these motors installed. Looking at the pic of motor only It looks quite a bit different than my HD 110 and I'm concerned about the look. I am still struggling with a S&S 124 or spend a little more and look stock but with less power.....
Also do you have apart number of the S&S 124I would buy for my 2009 SERG, I want to check it out on the S&S web site but can't seem to locate what motor I would need.
My motor builder seem reluctant to spend my $$$ and is pushing me to go S&S 124  :nixweiss:

Use your heads, bore your cases, along with an S&S crank/cylinders, etc, and insure the cylinders are color matched.
No one will no...........until you hit the start button......... ;)

The plan is solidifying for my SERG3:
Bottom End complete with H-Beam Rods
Top End T-Man 117 Thumper Series
Gear Drive T-Man cams
3 stage oil pump
Throttle Body
Clutch Upgrade
Dyno Tune with existing TTS
If I do change the pipe it will be Dragular 2-1 with ghost pipe (I sure do like the look/sound of my Fullsac with V&H Hi-Output slipons (4.500 OD)).

How much power would you guess I will give up using my current Fullsac w/ V&H slip ons?

Just curious how you ended up going with gear drive cams?  T-man said not to mess with them on my build.

Yea, my builder said the chain drive is fine too. I just figured its my choice and if I want Gear drive cams I should be able to have gear drive cams. Unless someone can point out to me why chain drive is better (besides the cost) I choose gear drive cams. I plan on keeping this bike forever and never looking back.

Gotcha.  I was interested in them, too, for the same reasons.  In the end, I decided against them .... for now.

Good luck with your build!

Give up? Compared to what? That set up will give U great tq., U may loose a couple three hp compared to drag pipes, but the bottom and middle will be so much better that unless compared at WOT, the ridability of the 2-1-2 with those wonderful sounding V&H Hi-Output muffs is so much better that the compo is onesided to the point of not even being a contest...

The 124 is a good choice..  Remember, engine builders will try to pursade you the other because  they hope you will come to them for the build...    :o   The motor swap is very easy, if you have any back yard mechanic experiece you can pull off the swap yourself.  As far as color matching your new 124 , i would guess it would cost you around $500 bill?   or less to have the motor dismantled and repainted.   I would keep the motor black or silver and re-do the transmission to match, that would probably cost you half the $500..and should be able to pull that off your self   :2vrolijk_21:

Welp, I was told today that the T-Man 117 Thumper Kit was not designed for our CVO 110's. I was told that my head won't work and I would have to purchase stock Harley Heads (I assume 96ci heads). So.....I am going with the T-Man CVO 110 Thumper Kit so I can stick with my CVO heads. Also this kit will reuse my stock jugs.  Bottom End Rebuilt with the T-Man CVO 110 Thumper Kit.

Sid,

Curious what is wrong with the build you have now that you would opt to spend more money and stay 110 and gain just a little bit?

Quite a few of the porters out there really like the 110 heads as a base starting point for making some bigger power.

originally alls I wanted to do this winter was build the bottom end. Then I started thinking that while it is apart I may as well clean up the holes +.030 and have a good builder go thru the cam chest. One thing lead to another to another and eventually I almost was ready to go 124 but the budget was running tight so I backed off to T-Man 117 Thumper and then the CVO head issue was a show stopper without buying a set of Stock HD heads so I decided to bag it for 2012/2013 motor work and just do the T-Man CVO 110 kit and be happy. Current build was only pulling 100/105 and it sounded noisy. Expecting a rock solid T-Man 110 close to 125/125 and will be satisfied for a couple more years. And it will still appear bone stock  ;) Good enough.

Got word today that the bottom end is completed, Welded Crank Pin, H-Beam Rods and Timken Bearings, Just waiting on TR now; Not in a big hurry as I scrape up the cash for this build, plus we have a foot of fresh snow on the ground here in Holland Michigan with temp last nt at -1. Spooky's in good hands in a nice warm shop.  :orange: :orange: :orange:

S&S T/B 58mm
5.3 injectors
crank work - Dragos
Tman cvo stage 4 kit
Tman cam plate oil pump
Tman 662-1 chain drive
Heavy duty pushrods. thicker wall
Gaterman high lift lifters
AIM VPT with 480 spring - Clutch

Guess I better ask Dragos about Roller Rockers too. Any recomendations?
