Been noticing some posts in the selling section from folks listed as newbies. Since I hadn't seen their names before I go to their profiles to see who they are. Several of these folks only had 10, 15, 25 posts, so I check out their posts and I find the only thing they've posted is selling stuff. I know a lot of what gets bought and sold on this site happens because folks trust the site member doing the selling or buying based on having read a bunch of their posts. I know I feel a LOT more comfortable buying from this site than I do E-bay.I'm not casting aspersions on anyone here, merely pointing out something I didn't know if anyone else had noticed. So I'm just curious how others feel about the site being used by these few folks as another E-bay ? I have mixed emotions about it. On the one hand, if the sellers are straight up and honest and the deals are going down good and site members are picking up needed items for good prices then I say Super. On the other, I feel used somehow. I know that sounds weird, but it's how I feel.

B, for what it's worth I just don't buy anything from the mercenaries.  That's been on for as long as I've been a member here.  It's also to be expected.  Nothing really we can do about it either.  But if it's some wanker for whom the only benefit they see to the site is it being a target rich environment I just don't patronize their wares.

I feel the same way, for a user to see the market place they must register, so a t least it takes some effort for them to be able to post there. Like you said Brian if they have something to offer and the deal goes down well then its all good. Lets just hope that there isn't any scams being run here. The best thing to say is BUYER BEWARE!

I too would be apprehensive about buying something from someone that doesn't contribute to the site on a regular basis. By being a part of this site and contributing you feel like you get to know a person to a certain degree. Because of this I feel more comfortable with purchasing things from (active) members here. Depending on the dollar amount spent I may want to call the person selling the item, and might even ask a (contributing) member that is close to them to maybe check out the item, purchase it (with money I sent them), and ship it to me. This is possible one way to protect you from getting scammed if indeed this was the case from someone that was joining only to sell something or run a scam.

Sure - if we could all afford to buy and run several bikes and we could all afford to buy new stuff at European prices = double what you guys pay (if we can get it)

Yeah sure we would all buy from dealers - but that's not how it is

Maybe if we didn't have to buy salvage and bring the bike back to life - would that make us better people - more "elite"
